UPDATE: Last chance to grab your games from the original list! Make sure to get them until June 8, 12:59 PM UTC.

Want more games? We've got more games! Three new titles are now available through GOG Connect:

- Kona
- Defender's Quest
- Door Kickers

You can get them until June 13, 1:59 PM UTC.

Today, we're launching a new program called <span class="bold">GOG Connect</span>. The premise is simple: connect your Steam account and add your eligible games to your GOG.com library.

Whether you're checking us out for the first time or have been with us for a while, <span class="bold">GOG Connect</span> gets you DRM-free versions of your games, digital extras, and a whole lot of freedom of choice (like whether you go with the GOG Galaxy client or not). It gets you our take on game ownership, and we say: why buy the games more than once?

Thanks to our awesome partners including Deep Silver, Harebrained Schemes, Jonathan Blow's Number None, TaleWorlds and more, you can now add more than 20 games to your GOG.com library if you previously purchased them on Steam.

The full list of games will always be available on connect.gog.com, starting with these and more:

- The Witness
- FTL: Faster Than Light
- The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut
- Galactic Civilizations 3
- Trine Enchanted Edition
- Saints Row 2
- Shadowrun Returns
- The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

While <span class="bold">GOG Connect</span> will stick around, the available games will come and go. These are limited-time offers made possible by participating developers and publishers, so stay tuned as we bring new titles onboard in the future (and grab your copies before they go away)!

For a bit more library-building, a bunch of our favorite titles will also be discounted up to -85% all week long, including The Witness, Saints Row: The Third, System Shock 2 and more. You can check out all the deals here. The sale will last until June 6, 12:59 PM UTC.

skeletonbow: I hope GOG Connect just dies and goes away now, if for no other reason than I wont have to see annoying useless threads about it in the forums anymore. :)
Pfft, some people still call this place "Good Old Games". You're going to hear about this for the next ten years, even if Connect is dead and gone.

Yeah, you're right. It was some wishful thinking though. :)
Well...after weeks of seeing this thread go inactive and get resurrected over and over again by fresh complaints about how the program got abandoned, there are a couple more Connect-able games available!

So be sure to link your Master of Orion games 1-3 if you've got them on Steam...then I suppose you can resume the complaint cycle in a week or so. =P

A -- No! That's not true! That's impossible!

B -- Refresh the Connect page, you know it to be true.

A -- NOOOO! NOOOOOO!

B -- Look, you can transfer Master of Orion 1-3 to GOG. You should have foreseen this. It is your destiny!
It lives!

They just added:
Master of Orion 1+2
Master of Orion 3

It's not much but it's something :)

Edit: Woops, I should really read up before posting.

I almost forgot. Sorry for that.
Updated my gogmix of GOG connect added master of orion 1+2 and master of orion 3.
Huh... GOG didn't even bother to mention the Master of Orion games being part of Connect in this thread or anywhere on the main page that I could see. If it weren't for expopower (resuming complaint cycle ASAP, lol) and others I wouldn't have known. Nice of GOG to hide it away at the bottom of a release announcement.

They mention it on the new Master of Orion release announcement.

Because that's where people who already bought this game elsewhere would go, makes perfect sense! ;)

Personally I'm hoping GOG connect doesn't turn into some silly 'preorder bonus' style thing where you only get to connect if you buy it on release (ie, at full price)

Err... that's what I said.
This methodology is both without logic and slightly rage-inducing. They need to just kill it with fire. One extremely brief period of activity after a three month wait actually makes me resent GOG which, I'm pretty sure, is not the effect they're going for.

Would be great if they Added Halcyon 6 to the list so that those who supported the game on Early Access on Steam do not have to purchase twice in order to get a drm-free copy.
Fortunately, the number of people with mental disorders that rage over something stupid like this is a fraction of a fraction of a percent of GOG customers, so I'm sure GOG connect will still be appreciated by the extremely overwhelming majority of customers.
Does this mean I can buy Elder Scrolls Oblivion Delux at Steam then have it available on GOG - DRM free?
The original game's only ownership check was that you had to have the disc. I've already bought the disc version twice so I am resisting paying for the delux version again just to have the Steam DRM millstone round my neck.

Otherwise, does anyone think Oblivion will come to GOG any time soon (-ish)?

No. In general with very few exceptions, you can't buy anything on Steam and get it here free on GOG. People should generally buy their games where they want to own them permanently as they normally will not be transferable except under very special circumstances if a publisher decides to do it. Some publishers can be contacted via email or similar and if one provides a proof of purchase they may allow a customer to receive a Steam code or GOG code for their game, but that is quite rare and not widely known or advertised. The only one I can think of off the top of my head that has done this was the publisher of The Black Mirror games, who have given out Steam and GOG codes upon proof of purchase in the past. They may or may not still do that, but they did at one point.

Other than that, the only ongoing offers for redeeming Steam or CD/DVD owned copies of games on GOG is the link at the bottom of the GOG homepage labelled "RECLAIM YOUR GAMES" which there are currently 6 games listed since that feature launched quite a while ago. It only works for certain versions of the games in question and not all. I was able to redeem STALKER Clear Sky using RECLAIM YOUR GAMES". The other ongoing offer is from CD Projekt RED, where you can claim a GOG copy of The Witcher or The Witcher 2 here if you own them on Steam. I don't have the link to that handy but googling for "Witcher backup gog.com" should find it.

The GOG Connect feature also allows game publishers to allow customers who have purchased their games on Steam to be able to redeem a free copy of the game on GOG for a limited time if they wish to provide this as a service to their customers. Since it is rare that publishers want to do this there normally will not be any games offered freely through the GOG Connect service like this, however if and when a publisher wants to offer such free copies to their customers, GOG has the GOG Connect feature there to make it easy for publishers to make such promotional offers. To date there have only been about 25 or so games offered through the service in about 3 or 4 batches. Normally when there is an offer available it only lasts for about 5 days.

There is however no other way to redeem games from Steam on GOG other than what I've mentioned above. Hope this helps clear it all up though, as it can sometimes be a little confusing.

There is a lot of talk about Oblivion coming to GOG in the forums, and there was some leaked information that is highly suggestive that it and a number of other high profile games are likely coming here (goofup on GOG's part). Quite a few games off of the list have subsequently been released on GOG since then, and so we remain hopeful that Oblivion and the others will make their way here some time too however since they have never officially announced it, even if they were working on making it happen a lot of things can occur that can change behind the scenes so we can never be certain of the time frame nor guarantee that such will happen. Nonetheless it does seem promising. Many speculate that Oblivion and/or other Bethesda games might be launched here when Skyrim Special Edition is released soonish, and others that Skyrim might even come here, but we haven't seen anything to suggest that that will happen yet.

Bethesda has been fairly GOG friendly this year though, so hopefully they've got some nice surprises lined up for us in the coming months/year. Feel free also to join the "games confirmed ..." thread and the "Enigmatic hint" thread and join us in plugging for Oblivion to come here "for the cause" if you wish. :)
