UPDATE: Last chance to grab your games from the original list! Make sure to get them until June 8, 12:59 PM UTC.

Want more games? We've got more games! Three new titles are now available through GOG Connect:

- Kona
- Defender's Quest
- Door Kickers

You can get them until June 13, 1:59 PM UTC.

Today, we're launching a new program called GOG Connect. The premise is simple: connect your Steam account and add your eligible games to your GOG.com library.

Whether you're checking us out for the first time or have been with us for a while, GOG Connect gets you DRM-free versions of your games, digital extras, and a whole lot of freedom of choice (like whether you go with the GOG Galaxy client or not). It gets you our take on game ownership, and we say: why buy the games more than once?

Thanks to our awesome partners including Deep Silver, Harebrained Schemes, Jonathan Blow's Number None, TaleWorlds and more, you can now add more than 20 games to your GOG.com library if you previously purchased them on Steam.

The full list of games will always be available on connect.gog.com, starting with these and more:

- The Witness
- FTL: Faster Than Light
- The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut
- Galactic Civilizations 3
- Trine Enchanted Edition
- Saints Row 2
- Shadowrun Returns
- The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

While GOG Connect will stick around, the available games will come and go. These are limited-time offers made possible by participating developers and publishers, so stay tuned as we bring new titles onboard in the future (and grab your copies before they go away)!

For a bit more library-building, a bunch of our favorite titles will also be discounted up to -85% all week long, including The Witness, Saints Row: The Third, System Shock 2 and more. You can check out all the deals here. The sale will last until June 6, 12:59 PM UTC.

grynn: 12 games have been added from my Steam account. But I also had Witcher 2 and 3(+SP), but seems like only the first one is supported atm.
avatar
Barefoot_Monkey: I'm sure they're just saving them for later. But in the meantime you can still claim Witcher 2 the old way
I forgot that I already did that :D

Does https://www.gog.com/witcher/backup still work for the Witcher 2? I can't test it as I already have it on GOG.

EDIT: Nevermind, someone already thought of that :)

Why are people so worried about Valve hijacking them? Gog Galaxy is still optional, gog connect is optional and most of the titles that are added both to steam and gog are in terms with the devs/publishers.

It's a nice feature for people who enjoy both platforms but the good thing about Gog is that they don't force it on you.

MOS3: I'm sorry if this sounds stupid, but what's the benefit of connecting both accounts? If you already have a game on Steam, what's the point of now being able to play it on gog? It's the same game right? No extra stuff?

Turjan: If for whatever reason you cannot connect to the net reliably, it's always nice to have a DRM-free copy that doesn't want to phone home. Steam offline mode sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. It's just nice to be able to do this, for example when you travel abroad or travel to some spot where you are not allowed to connect to the internet, like some of my workplaces.

As an update to my earlier messages, it's only fair that I say that I'm set now. I could add 8 games :).
Thanks a lot! :)

skeecher: I don't like the idea of Steam making in-roads into GOG, or the info that may be taken from those that sign up to this.

I do my best to avoid Steam, so I'll pass on this, thanks. Although, I hope this isn't a prelude to further moves on GOG by them.

GOG doesn't need Steam to survive, no matter what they're telling you.
Steam isn't "making inroads" on gog, this is an agreement with developers to give you a "key" here for games you own there. Like when gog gives you a digital copy of a game you own on disk
This is a very cool new feature, thank you GOG :)
Can't sync my account, connection times out every time, server overload or what?

Besides having it in two places instead of one, the GOG version is easier to back up and reinstall. For games in a series you acquired separately, it's nice to have the whole series in one place. There's also the benefit of not having to rebuy a game through GOG to get a package discount.

Does anyone know what happens if you link a Steam account and then set it private after GOG scans the library? Will GOG consider your library empty at some future time and remove the linked games from GOG?

As noted, there are no 'in-roads' being made here. It's all on GOG's side (in cooperation with publishers of the games currently available on Connect). Steam/Valve have nothing to do with it.

There's nothing to avoid. If you have a Steam account already, then Steam already has your info and your secret handshake. If you don't have a Steam account, then you can't even use the Connect feature. No avoidance necessary.

They're not telling us they need Steam to survive. What they're actually doing is trying to draw some of Steam's users to GOG. Pretty solid thinking, if you ask me.

Any plans to add a similar feature for humble bundles?

Installing Steam just to redeem the humble keys just so I can claim them on GOG seems like it's just driving revenue at Valve.
It's not working for me. I'm already connected and the site keeps telling me no games eligible when in fact, I do have games eligible. :-(

I have the exactly same problem :(

How do you work that out? If you already own the keys then redeeming them is not going to generate any more revenue, that's not how the market works. The revenue was generated when you bought them.
