UPDATE: Last chance to grab your games from the original list! Make sure to get them until June 8, 12:59 PM UTC.

Want more games? We've got more games! Three new titles are now available through GOG Connect:

- Kona
- Defender's Quest
- Door Kickers

You can get them until June 13, 1:59 PM UTC.

Today, we're launching a new program called GOG Connect. The premise is simple: connect your Steam account and add your eligible games to your GOG.com library.

Whether you're checking us out for the first time or have been with us for a while, GOG Connect gets you DRM-free versions of your games, digital extras, and a whole lot of freedom of choice (like whether you go with the GOG Galaxy client or not). It gets you our take on game ownership, and we say: why buy the games more than once?

Thanks to our awesome partners including Deep Silver, Harebrained Schemes, Jonathan Blow's Number None, TaleWorlds and more, you can now add more than 20 games to your GOG.com library if you previously purchased them on Steam.

The full list of games will always be available on connect.gog.com, starting with these and more:

- The Witness
- FTL: Faster Than Light
- The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut
- Galactic Civilizations 3
- Trine Enchanted Edition
- Saints Row 2
- Shadowrun Returns
- The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

While GOG Connect will stick around, the available games will come and go. These are limited-time offers made possible by participating developers and publishers, so stay tuned as we bring new titles onboard in the future (and grab your copies before they go away)!

For a bit more library-building, a bunch of our favorite titles will also be discounted up to -85% all week long, including The Witness, Saints Row: The Third, System Shock 2 and more. You can check out all the deals here. The sale will last until June 6, 12:59 PM UTC.
I got connected yesterday. It took a long while, so I just close my browser and when I got back to it a couple of hours later, the connection was done and I got a couple of Steam titles on offer to my library. So if you aren't getting anywhere soon, just leave it and maybe it'll get through at some point.

I'm not going anywhere, but I cannot even start the connection process because of the "OOPS, SOMETHING WENT WRONG. Please try again." message.
I see that many GOGers have the same problem...
Hope it'll be fixed soon :)
One day later im getting ops something wen't wrong while yesterday it showed the games list but did not recognize it. I hope gog fixes this before the five days are over.

Zoidberg: It's the gog version.
avatar
GOGer: that doesn't mean anything. why say this? gog has different versions of some games. some are censored. or you didn't know this?
You'd get the same version of the game as if you bought it here. It's in the FAQ, I don't see what else there is to add.

OOPS, SOMETHING WENT WRONG.
Please try again.

mechmouse: Just looking at the number of unique posters on this thread, this service is really being used.

As I mentioned earlier I hope this is giving CDPR some hard data to show publishers to convince them that selling DRM-free on GoG is a viable option.
avatar
Pheace: I really doubt they'd weigh data on a limited time free drm-free handout very high compared to actual sales data of DRM-Free games on GOG so far.
Its not about how many people try to get free GoG copies of games they already own on Steam, but going deeper into historic data.

One of GoG's biggest hurdle is getting big publishers to release their games DRM free here.

We know CDPR are making a healthy profit on GoG sales, but by tapping into the purchase history of an individuals Steam account you can get a greater view of that persons buying patterns.

For example
1) its Clear from comparing my accounts that two years ago I stopped buying via Steam, choosing GoG.
2) That in 2 years I've bought more GoG games than I did in the previous 8 years on Steam.

For others it could show
With Games simultaneously released, a preference to buy via Gog than Steam
Where there is a delay between Steam and GoG release it could show either people rebuying to not be bound to Steam, or waiting for GoG release.

I'm not sure what other data can be gained from the SteamAPI. But If playing data can be gained, then playing preference can be taken.
I'm unfortunately having the "oops something went wrong" error too.

Regardless thanks for doing this and I hope the server recovers soon.
Same as many others. Yesterday it was stuck spinning for hours.
Tried logging in today and it gives a near IMMEDIATE "OOPS, SOMETHING WENT WRONG.

Please try again."

Also, and this is big if you know how Steam API logins work. It does not appear to be asking to sign in on the Steam side (and approve GOG) like it normally does.
Example if I go to Steamgifts which I have linked and authorized for years, each and every time I click "Sign in through Steam" I am sent to the Steam page and I have to authorize the logon.

These new attempts today from GOG are not getting that page/prompt.
Thanks GOG for having this great idea and making it possible.
I have many games on Steam, some are available here but I got weak on a sale on Steam now and then and bought them there (X-Wing). Sometimes I stayed strong and bought them here (e.g. Grim Fandango) and I will try to stay strong and keep on supporting you (next game will be Day of the Tentacle).

So keep up the good work. Perhaps Cybverpunk2077 will be one of the few games I will buy at full price to support you (I regreted buying 75% of my full price games).
Plus another
OOPS, SOMETHING WENT WRONG.
Please try again.

Now it does a new one on me, it no longer shows my steam account connected whereas previously it had been.

It would be great if GoG would issue a troubleshooting telling us what we should do to somehow help this along (like for instance setting our inventory to public).

Here's to hopping they'll fix it as I have many of the offered games in my account...

EDIT: Now it's back to
YOUR ACCOUNTS ARE BEING CONNECTED
Due to exceedingly high demand this may take up to several days, please check back later. Thank you for your patience.

Thing is it should have already connected the accounts. :(

And, not counting the games I ALREADY have on GoG, this process if successful should add 7 games to my account

Man, I don't even have a steam account, but even to me this looks like an awesome idea and new addition to GOG. Way to go, GOG team, please keep up the awesome work.

Zoidberg: You'd get the same version of the game as if you bought it here. It's in the FAQ, I don't see what else there is to add.
the faq says:

"Importing your game will get you the complete GOG.com release – just as if you had bought it normally. The specifics may vary from game to game, but you can always check what's included on the game's product page."

that implies you would get a region specific version. so if we talk about the witcher 2 (which is censored in AU, for example) someone from AU that actually has the uncut version on Steam would now get the cut gog version? if yes, that's crap. and that's exactly what they would get on gog because the second line from the answer in the faq basically makes it clear that there will/could be exceptions or special circumstances.

like everyone else, i can't merge right now due to the errors and current issues. but i hope that when it does work, the page that checks which games you are eligible for at least lets you pick the games you then want added to your gog account. that way, if someone is in a region where the GOG version of one of their existing steam games is censored -as in game code actually different or entire sex/violence scenes modes taken out completely- they can chose not to have it added to their gog account. that leaves them the opportunity to have a gog uncut version gifted to their gog account later.

I tried last night in the early hours of the morning and had no luck. Come back about 15 hours later and it's still not working. As much as I appreciate the kind gesture on GOG's behalf, I am a little frustrated that it is still not working right now. Probably doesn't help that I've been having similar issues with another site today. All these broken internet pages are pushing me over the edge!

If only someone had followed through when I requested a copy of Unreal Tournament 2004. I could have been playing that for 15 hours straight :p
