I'm still processing the data in my head. Some storefronts that are not on my radar are clearly getting some indie developers' attention. For better or for worse.

Anyhoots, lots of you are more interested in this data and will say more interesting things than me, which is why I posted it. So go ahead, be interesting, funny, or useful!
Is GOG even called Good Old Games nowadays?

Gravest: Is GOG even called Good Old Games nowadays?
That's just what I thought. I think it shows just how much gog fails to be relevant, known, or understood.
I have to admit that I wonder about the methodology on the survey. Was it marketed to developers? Programmers? General public?

Who promoted it?

etc.

If there's an article attached to it, please kindly link to it. Thank you.

It seems like student project, the number of skipped questions is quite high. and number of people who fill the question is low.

Gotta admit that I was looking at the Other: Fill in responses myself.
It came with a generic email from yoyogames (the make game maker which was used to create games like Hotline Miami)
This survey's quality seems...questionable, at best.
Glancing over it, it seems like the preferred publishing goes (in order):
Steam
Itch.io
Humble Bundle
GoG

Then the only time this breaks is review bombing, in which Steam has the poorest results.

Some interesting results... but with the floodgates of crap on steam i'm not sure how useful that is.

What seems odd is that this is the general order regardless of the question asked. Those are the responses they got, sure, but I have to wonder if this is simply a popularity poll related to where each respondent releases their games.

How would you rate it:

O Great
O Good
O Okay
O Other

FYI, these were the real options offered on a real political survey, further details of which I will refrain from mentioning for the sake keeping this thread peaceful. :P
In addition to what others mentioned:
- The number of participants skipping questions increases as the questionnaire progresses.
- Q9 - 34.36% is in favour of DRM as developers, but 33.13% want DRM-free as consumers; isn't that great?

there is other reasons why it looks like a 'student project' but that's not it. It is a problem with all questionnaires that people skips questions and don't fill them in. You are luck if you have anything close to 25% completed forms in a survey
I have never even heard of itch.io before. I went over there, and immediately I am turned off by it. Doesn't seem professional, and looks like they'll take every indie game under the sun, so lack of quality control

no control, no, but it is a fantastic grow-bed for indies today. it is the most indi-friendly site, offering more than anyone else for a lot less, and made it very easy to publish your game there.
