All of everything is back, plus some new stuff.

It's the incredible, the amazing, the stunning Indie Piñata Grande Finale!

Welcome to the final blowout. It's 24 hours of every deal and Pinata so far, all to bring this weeklong event to its grande conclusion. Among these exceptional offers is the return of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - now in an all-new, totally improved Unreal Engine 4 <span class="bold">Redux</span> edition. There's the most delicious combination of words in gaming, also known as Sunless Sea, and of course - there is a handful of completely new Piñatas so you can keep on whackin' on!

What is the Indie Piñata?
The Indie Piñata is a whacky gaming sale brought to you by Crunching Koalas and GOG.com, a weeklong celebration of diverse indie games - organised to help gamers (you) discover great indie titles without breaking the bank. Instead, we'll break the Piñata! A lot.

There's so much stuff.
There's stuff alright, with plenty of video game stuffing.
We've got a hefty selection of deals up to 80% off - all indies, all highly recommended - this includes titles like Kerbal Space Program (-33%), NEO Scavenger (-50%), Legend of Grimrock 2 (-75%), and MouseCraft (-80%), so that you can pick and choose what you play (but it's probably best to get them all just in case).

Whack your Piñata!
If you're fond of surprises, for $3 (or your local equivalent), you can grab your own 100% whackable Piñata and find a random indie wonder inside - handpicked by us and Crunching Koalas. The Piñata can include games anywhere from $9.99 to $44.99, so there's a deal (and a satisfying POP) behind every swing - and we’ll be ready to congratulate those of you who show off your discounted gains on Twitter with the hashtag #IndiePinata!

The Promo and Piñata include a completely separate batch of games, so there's plenty of variety and surprises - we'll also rotate the Promo and Piñata lineup after three days, just so that things don't get too stale. The Indie Piñata promo will last until 9/18/2015, 9:59AM GMT. Just remember - check yourself, before you whack yourself.
Batter up!

SirPrimalform: Yes, but will we be informed before paying? You make it sound like we don't find out until after payment, which means at any point I might end up buying a game I already own...
avatar
Agrilla: There is no warning if you happen to own all games in the Pinata pool already. You will just get a gift code for games you already own.
This did happen for me anyway. I purchased 3 x Pinata and got a gift code for 3 games I already own.

So for me this was no fun at all. I feel penalized for already owning a lot of games.

So if you own a lot of games then you are at a huge disadvantages, so don't try your lock with this.
Otherwise you might end up get something good.
No warning for already owned games? That's even worse than the Luck of the Irish Sale, yikes.

notnsane: My local equivalent of $3 USD is about $0,3 USD... I think that text should be fixed or changed.
They mean 3 USD converted to your local currency if it's a supported currency.

same here. I find these random gimmicks to be utterly ridiculous @ $3 a pop. At $1 or $0.50 a pop I might chance one or two although like the quoted poster I'd probably just end up with useless gift codes.

Yes - A fast way of wasting good money.

I bought a game that was on sale plus two pinata games. Both of the pinata games were games I already owned. However, the game that I didn't own was included in the gift certificate instead of being added to my account. Not only did I have to pay for two games that I already own, but I also didn't get another game that I paid for (and it was $4.99). I contacted support about this issue, but for now I recommend buying only one pinata item at a time and not mixing it with other purchases.

Randalator: I'm not fond of gambling, so no piñatas for me. I prefer knowing what I buy before forking over money...
Ditto. I have enough games in my backlog that I'm genuinely interested in playing... someday.

I don't need to flush my limited gaming budget down the toilet for the ones for which I may not care at all. Plus, I'll be in-between jobs starting next week and I dare not trifle with the savings I have to keep me afloat.
Who thinks the Piñata is too cute to hit.

I feel quilty hitting it.
of course these shitty pinata has to start on weekend so no support is reachable!
really nice move, gog!

IAmSinistar: So why did my first Piñata contain a game I already own, when there are at least two in the tracking thread that I don't own? I'm guessing "limited quantities" again, which means the above isn't strictly true. If it were I would keep trying until I got Republique, but now I suspect I could go all day and just keep getting titles I own.

Konrad: You're right. Sorry if we were being misleading with this, we'll update the FAQ with more specifics. Basically, if we want to get into the randomness-algorithm, here's roughly how it works:

The Pinata lineup is separated into timed pools with limited quantities, each pool includes more of some games and fewer of others. Theoretically, it's possible for a game to be "sold out" in one batch.

So if you're missing a game from the lineup it will be prioritised as long as there are copies left in the given batch. Basically, we did this to spread the games out evenly across the entire promo and avoid a situation in which all the best deals are gone right off the bat.
yeah this is why I didn't bother with it now. I figured I'd roll my pinata tomorrow morning.
As someone married to a great and lovely woman from Mexico, I find the use of this beloved icon for mere marketing and promotional purposes to be highly offen...

Oh, sweet! Cheap games!!! <checks Paypal balance>
Piñata poking aside, I'm debating on picking up Serpent in the Staglands from the sale. But honestly I probably wouldn't get to it soon. Especially since I also grabbed the Van Helsing releases today, which I'm far more likely to play in the near future.
well not a bad idea except: I'm primary a Linux user and now I have even more Winblows games, I also own now two RPGs and I hate RPGs...

cal74: I used the standard support form, specified the order number and asked for store credit for one of the games. If you also did it via the support form, maybe you did after their closure time (then you may have to wait until Monday) or it takes a longer time when dealing with a refund.

From experience, every request of refund I did went fine so I wouldn't be too much stressed in your case.
avatar
yyahoo: Not stressed at all, just checking to see if you did anything differently than me. Other than asking for a credit instead of a refund, you didn't... Thanks!
You're welcome (and check your PM :) ).

Just redeem the gift code, the game you don't own will be added to your account, while the other two will stay on the gift code and you can still use it to give them away.

GOG's system for redeeming gift codes is actually much more user-friendly than those of other digital download services, because it won't automatically add everything to your account - it asks for confirmation first, so you can check what's on the code without redeeming it, and you can even single out the games you want to redeem and not redeem the other ones on the same code. And if you already own a game on a gift code, you can't redeem it, so it won't be gone but will stay on the code instead. The code remains valid until all games have been redeemed. So theoretically, if you trust everyone involved, it would even be possible to pass the code around among several users, each one just redeeming one game they want and leaving the rest for others.
