"Black Guy", introduced as the villain of Raymond E. Feist's Magician, has a name with... unfortunate implications.

Although he's a cool character, and what the author did with him in terms of the narrative was very clever.

Maybe that doesn't sound bad for an english audience, but in French, "profond" means "deep", and "fion" is a slang word for "ass"

Char Aznable sounds a little silly, but not too much... Unless you happen to know Charles Aznavour, the singer who inspired the name. Every time I heard someone in the anime talk about this badass pilot ace, I had the image of the peaceful old guy my parents were were fan of.

The name's kind of medium-silly for the Star Wars universe, but he sure looks ridiculous. I mean seriously, what is he wearing? Half of an armor and inflatable shoulder pads? And why on most artwork is his blaster connected to his belt with a cable?

Every single character in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Flim Flam Tingle Dam, BeebleDix Stinky Meat and the invasion of the properly protruding Puck Pucks from the planet Phillywig. It all sounds silly and fun, but ultimately I don't get it.

It's all gibberish to me. For some reason British writers enjoy abandoning the English language and leaving it up to dumb Americans like myself to rearrange the pieces in some form of identifiable order.

You know, a long time ago, I've watched a 1980's Sci-Fi animated OAV, and there was a scene where the villain summons what are supposed to be, two intimidating robotic henchmen. And this thereby immediately turned into comedy for me, the moment their names are revealed. Guess what they are? "Blue-Da" and "Red-Da" (because one of them was of the color blue, while the other was red)

Even though the show was meant to be a Sci-Fi horror/drama (and it was till that point), I totally fell over laughing at how brainlessly cheesy it was.

It's a stupid name sure. I guess I'm missing something that might make it funnier though?
