A sneak peek to what lies ahead.

Do you want to know more about <span class="bold">Senua</span>'s story? Good. But are you ready to ask the right questions? Excellent. At 4PM UTC today, Dominic Matthews, Product Development Manager for Ninja Theory, will join us here for an open Q&A session, answering the questions that you guys have been submitting below since Tuesday, and tackling any new ones that you want to throw at them.

Two days ago Melina Juergens appeared live as Senua on Ninja Theory's facebook page and addressed fan questions about the game and its groundbreaking motion-capture technology. You can watch it all <span class="bold">here</span>.

But surely there's more you want to know about this fascinating project, things that are not even covered in these extensive <span class="bold">developer diaries</span>. So what are you waiting for? Fire away, people!

<span class="bold">Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice</span> is scheduled for release on August 8 and you can pre-order it now, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Watch the Hela trailer.

kyle10: Senua appears to be an horror game. Is there anything positive in the game or it's really only horror and violent?

In other word, is there any chance to cure the mental health of Senua or it is all about the descent to hell of this character?
Hellblade is all about the journey of Senua. A physical journey, but also a journey with her experiences of hearing voices, seeing visions and understanding her world in a unique way. It is a struggle, but it isn't all dark.

candesco: Ok, so Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice will be on multiple platforms. My question is will the pc version get it's own version (being optimized for the pc) or is it another console port.
Creating Hellblade for PC has always been important to us and throughout development we've been working hard to give both PlayStation and PC players great versions of the game.

powerstrokegt: Super Hyped, but it's Ninja Theory, so.....I can't help it. Kind of a fan-boy.

Question:

Was female the gender of choice for the games protagonist from the beginning? Also, is Senua the exact same Senua from the start of development, or did she become who she is in the game over time? Evolving, so to speak.

Can't wait to play! Also, thanks to GOG!
Thanks for the question. Yes, we always intended to have a female protagonist for Hellblade. As with most games, the actual Senua model has evolved over time. She has been improved throughout development, particularly with regard to the realism that we have always wanted to achieve in her.

Agent-94: I am interested in the concept but will you actually be able to control the character and fight or will it be more like a Telltale game (minimal control of the character)?
Yes, you can absolutely control the character and yes there is combat gameplay. Hellblade is a 3rd person adventure.

Manythings: Question: Unless I misunderstand your intentions you have what you call a Celtic woman talking to a Druid(?) about Ragnarok, the Viking Apocalypse, then going off to fight what I can only assume are Picts (Not really sure). Can I get some kind of context for why things from completely different periods of history are being put together?
Thanks for your question. I won't explain this here, but when you play the game you'll get an understanding of how the different elements of the narrative piece together.

To Ninja Theory:

As you're probably aware Linux gaming is growing, Have you thought about a Linux version for your game? I understand Windows is your main priority for a PC release right now.

And if a Linux release would ever happen, would you consider using Vulkan for it?

Thanks :-)

Thanks for the questions. As a small team, our focus is on Windows but we do read comments and listen to feedback and I agree that Linux gaming is growing.
Hi, Ninja Theory :) Recently I have finished Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, really enjoyed experience!

Also, really appreciate transparency of your development process for H:SS, would be nice to have all of development videos included in game package.

Quote from Hellblade.com: "It’s about making a more focused game experience that isn’t trying to be all things to all people but satisfies a particular gaming itch."
So, what would that itch be, who is targeted audience this time? :)

What was inspiration for theme(s) of H:SS, and what where the main influences during concept creation phase?

Did you plan on releasing a demo?

Wish you millions copies sold! ;)
(sorry for my poor english)
In one video it was said the adventure is 2/3 of a normal adventure length, what is a normal adventure length? :) Or how long is the adventure roughly?
Will you continue her quest or is this one complete story? Can you answer without telling if she survives?

Hope this doesn't sound stupid.

Is the control taken away from the player often, as in is it mostly gameplay and interaction with the world or is there a lot of in-game footage such as conversations, watching story segments, QTE's etc.

disi: What are SPG/MPG? Sorry, if this is obvious.
No need to apologise, only "Obvious", when you know the answer.

SPG = Single Player Game
MPG = Multi Player Game

I may be blunt but my biggest concern is the rather short gaming time. Probably not more than 10h, nowadays rather standard. As a small team and focused on mainstream it may be appropriate but to me i wish there would be bigger efforts toward core gamers too. I simply wonder, whats the excact idea regarding this matter and what´s actually realistic for a small team? Is it difficult in order to expand development time and ask for some more cash.

Not to try and steal an answer from Dom to you, but I think they may be done answering stuff. If so, I found their YouTube channel has a Dev Diary! They have vids that covered my and some others questions. lol Nice to hear from the team themselves though. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbpkF8TRYizaT6GfMcKBG-RoUOQ6BJRXp

Question: How does it feel to often to be mistaken for Team Ninja, who were one of the major developers involved in the Metroid Other M disaster?
Will there be subtitles?
And my questions were ignored :(
