Now it's time to leave the capsule, if you dare.

The Solus Project, a captivating experience of solitary exploration and survival upon a deserted alien planet, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount.

It's 2183 and humanity is looking for a planet to colonize. Your mission goes awry and you soon find yourself alone, stranded on a mysterious planet with no signs of life. But then, who put up those grandiose structures and why do the alien remains look so awfully humanoid? You need to shelter yourself from the temperamental, constantly shifting weather, collect items, and figure out what happened to the inhabitants of this desolate planet, while looking for a way to rescue yourself and contact your people.

The Solus Project focuses on the solitary aspect of the journey but developers Teotl Studios feel like it's finally time to share the almost-finished game with their fans and get some useful feedback on the features and the overall impact of the experience. They expect to release the final build within three months, but during that time they will keep polishing and unlocking content in an episodic manner until the whole game up to the final chapter is fully playable. Unless that menacing space tornado reaches their offices earlier than expected.

If you want to save Earth, surviving and deciphering the secrets of a mysterious alien planet will become your own Solus Project, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 10% discount will last until February 25, 5:59 PM GMT.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.
Incidentally the two games you mention are the only EA ones I decided to get :)
Will take a while until I can say with confidence, but so far Solus looks very promising.

I got The Long Dark mostly because I have faith in Chris Sorrell:

Although Primal lacked content at places (clearly rushed to release), and had terrible frame rate issues, especially at the final boss fight, it was an amazing experience for its time.

James Pond... need I say more if you had an Amiga? :)

Unfortunately the theme of Solus is a lot more intriguing to me, so I had to start with that.

minimum 4GB. Recommended 8GB ram... isnt that a lot???. On closer look, looks like bulk of the game is set in underground right?
For a modern game running on UE4 8GB is pretty much the (realistic) minimum, unless you want to watch a slideshow...

8GB RAM has been standard for Recommended the last couple of years and this game does seem to offer decent graphics. Remember the new norm is that because hardware has been growing pretty well developers only need to optimize so much. Sad but true.
