How far will you go to survive?

The Long Dark, an immersive, existential struggle for post-apocalypric survival, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with a 33% launch discount.

Darkness. Silence. The sky flares wildly. It's a beautiful, quiet apocalypse as humanity falls to its knees. Technological might laid to waste completely: the lights go out one last time, the electrical hum of machinery replaced by birdsong and... nothing. No energy, no food, no warmth. What does the future hold?

The Long Dark is a first-person survival simulation that'll force you to think, and challenge you in unique ways: a frozen wasteland and the disinterest of Mother Nature may threaten your survival, but it's your own fear, greed, and humanity that'll become your worst enemy.

The Long Dark is all about solo survival in an unforgiving environment, but Hinterland Studio Inc. are also planning a Story mode with a narrative framework for the players' struggles. Until its planned Spring 2016 release, they will also be tweaking the mechanics, items, and overall environment, in order to achieve the perfect balance between punishing realism and a rewarding sense of accomplishment. Hinterland Studio Inc. invite everyone to check out the game's official website and stay up-to-date on all the news from development.

Let yourself weaken and any small threat may lead to your death. You have to earn the right to survive The Long Dark, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 33% discount will last until February 11, 1:59 PM GMT.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.
Glad to see it here! It's one of my favourite kickstarter games, really fun to play, even in a purely survival mode. Looking forward to see the story mode!
Damn, another EA ? GOG, where are my complete / retro games ? Is there a secret merge between Steam and GOG ?
I'm tired to see so much EA games among the new releases since last week. I know that games from 90's or 2000's are complicated to acquire because of major law issues and long and expensive to convert regarding the new systems, but they are the heart of GOG and the main interests of it's customers.

I have nothing against this game or its developers because I like survival games, but unfinished games don't deserve so much attention on GOG before to be sure there is really an audience for them !

Edit : EA for Early Access, not for Electronic Arts (I strongly support Electronic Arts new releases on GOG) !

Looks promising. Will consider buying it after it's finished.
Looks like it can be something very interesting. It reminds me of Kholat, at least as far as the setting go, even though it seems to be something very different in terms of gameplay.

I'll wait for it to be completed and all the episodes delivered too so I can take a more detailed look into it. Good thing there is an ETA that hopefully will be correct.
Thanks GOG but I've already have this on Steam.

I think I'll have to keep an eye on GOG's Dev games to this day forward. :/
This is a good game, by the way, good to see it being one of the alpha's gOg let on.

isn't that a bit Catch 22?

Taken out of context (where EA could be Electronic Arts) sounds weird.. :P
low rated
yet another paid beta/early access piece of crap.
shame on you gog
Looking at the price, I think that the fair price package is a little weird. Is the discounted US base price really $13.32?

Have you played it?

catpower1980: The only problem with this type of game is to not die of boredom with repetitive tasks like ressources gatherings and such....
Didnt happen to me in the eighteen hours or so I've played it. Storyline still to be added as well.

Edit: What I'd like to see now is for the devs of these games to offer them up somehow on the "reclaim your games" initiative.

Survival is not fun. Adventure is fun.

Survival can be quite compelling... That's what TB has said before, which makes sense.

Looks like DayZ but without Zombies. Will keep an eye out for this when it gets nearer to completion.

Edit: Also as usual missing Linux version.

I've heard this is one of the best survival games made. I'm going to have to pick this up when I next get paid
