These corridors sure are spacey.

StarCrawlers, a turn-based dungeon crawler set in closed space(s), is available now DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows and Mac with a 25% launch discount.

Dimly-lit cantinas in the outskirts of lawless space is when you can usually find the most skilled, specialized mercenaries. Also the best music. And if corporate espionage is your game, you know you'll need to put together a band of the most shady-yet-reliable people available. Those intrepid enough to hunt for bounties, undertake sabotage missions, and navigate the dangers of space while keeping you in good standing with all concerned parties.

The band of Juggernaut Games is also focused on keeping all interested parties happy. So they keep adding more missions, random encounters, diverse environments and tons of loot to their procedurally generated universe, taking into account their community's input along the way. For the remaining months that the game will stay in development, expanding the universe of StarCrawlers and fleshing out the campaign with more dynamic content are their main goals. That is, unless a band of ruthless mercenaries infiltrates their offices and wipes out all that precious code!

Pit your StarCrawlers against the randomly generated hazards of corporate warfare, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 25% discount will last until February 09, 1:59 PM GMT.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.
Wishlisted for now as I not feel comfortable to buy unfinished products.

CarrionCrow: Good morning. =)

A question for you - if someone gets the in-dev version through GOG, what would be the right channel to direct comments/info/any found bugs to?
We have a built-in bug reporter in StarCrawlers that opens a Google survery and we'll be starting up feedback / bug threads in the StarCrawlers game forums today!

JuggernautGames: Hi everyone - Juggernaut Games here! We are using the Unity game engine and unfortunately the latest engine update broke the Linux build. So that's ill timing :D We're in touch with Unity now to get either a workaround or a target date for a patch fix, after which we'll being the Linux version back online as soon as possible.
avatar
mrkgnao: Thank you for letting people know. Much appreciated.
While you're here, do you have a tentative release date for the game, as I prefer not to buy (and play) incomplete products?
No date to announce yet, but it's coming! If In Dev isn't for you, that's ok! We're excited by the process and think it's made StarCrawlers better than it would have been in closed development. We update our status regularly, so we'll let everyone know when a release date is locked in.

avatar
omega64: So what's the game actually like?
I'm used to Dungeon Crawlers like Etrian Odyssey. How is this different aside from the random generation? (which seems like a bad idea to me)
Sidenote: will you sell the OST here?
That's a deep question which I can expand on in the game forums ;) StarCrawlers is a mission-based dungeon crawl with a main story campaign and procedurally generated side missions which can affect the main story.

avatar
akhliber: Has anybody heard whether or not this could mean us Kickstarter backers who opted for DRM-free copies may be getting GOG keys soon?
Kickstarter backers should contact us via Kickstarter and we will help you get the game through GOG.

And lastly! Come chat with us : http://www.gog.com/forum/starcrawlers/hi_gog_were_juggernaut_games_1

I'm not (currently) using Linux, but thanks for showing presence here and giving the issues some transparency. That's always a plus in my book. :-)
Glad to see those two releases as appropriately priced (both full and cut price, no strange roundings on those ones ;)).

Again guys, watch out for games in devs you know what they are, you don't know what they will be. This one seems like a nice starter idea, curious how this will develop.

Sarasa: @JudasIscariot

When I download the standalone Installer from galaxy or the account page, it down the mac version.
Bug or no windows standalone for the moment ?
It's fixed now, sorry about that :) If you don't see them right away, wait 5 minutes for our webcache to refresh :)

omega64: So Grimrock with TB combat, alright.
avatar
JudasIscariot: Yes but minus the dancing around the enemies :D
Pretty much both what I expected and hoped for from this game. Looking forward to its release.
avatar
omega64: I really want turn based dungeon crawlers. Just not randomly generated. :l
avatar
mrkgnao: I think "randomly generated" and "in development" tend to go hand in hand:
- Starbound: "A procedurally generated universe with unlimited procedurally generated planets"
- Curious Expedition: "Endless replayability thanks to procedurally generated landscapes and stories"
- StarCrawlers: "Procedurally-generated dungeons and events create endless replayability"

Actually, from reading on the web, of the current batch of In Development games, only Project Zomboid might not be procedurally generated. It seems TerraTech and Ashes of the Singularity are, although I do not see it mentioned on the GOG game page.
Fair enough, Though with the Dungeon Crawlers I've played The level design and exploration is part of what keeps me engaged. Not sure if random generation would be able to achieve the same.
A bit annoyed..by those releases. I backed the thing on KS and like for Darkest Dungeon, had i knew GoG was about to launch a similar type of early access process. I wouldn't have used my key on steam. I feel a bit screwed :/

Ah, okay. Thank you for the info. Also, it's always nice to see a developer willing to come to the forum and answer questions.

I too greatly prefer hand crafted games.
I think the only randomly generated game I enjoyed anytime recently is Desktop Dungeons.
avatar
JudasIscariot: As someone who played it, it's basically a tile-based dungeon crawler with turn-based combat and kind of a freelook feature that you can use to solve puzzles outside of combat :)
avatar
omega64: So Grimrock with TB combat, alright.
in SPAAAAAAAAAAACEEE !
avatar
Vythonaut: Also, please guys, don't turn each "In Dev" release thread into a negativity contest. I also don't support early access on GOG, but I see it wrong to make such negative posts, full of "colorful" language (as mrkgnao said) or sarcasm or whatever.
avatar
nightcraw1er.488: Why, if we don't complain then they will think it is fine. Whilst InDev is about, i will complain about it. much like I always complain about Galaxy. If I wanted steam I would use steam!
Have you meet Jonathan yet? If not, you will get along like a house on fire. I suggest you post your views in this thread once per day until gOg removes InDev.

In Account the windows version appear now.

Galaxy still down the mac version, I will retry again later, perhaps galaxy need more time to update it's list :)

Thanks so much for the reply! I'll send a Kickstarter message in a bit. I appreciate it! :)

Are you talking about the offline installer or via the "Install" button? If it's the offline installer, just exit Galaxy completely and restart it for quicker results :)

Breja: Unwishlisted.
I had it wishilisted when it was "upcoming", but as "in development" I have no interest in this, and I don't want "in development" shit cluttering my wishlist.
avatar
mrkgnao: I might have used slightly less colourful language, but the net effect is the same. Unwishlisted.
Yeah, feeling the same here. Initiallly wishlisted it expecting a future full release... Well, unwishlisted and waiting for it to finish before even considering buying it. Which hopefully it will one day.

Just don't have the money to throw around nor the desire to deal with Early-Access and Kickstarter shenanigans.
