These corridors sure are spacey.

StarCrawlers, a turn-based dungeon crawler set in closed space(s), is available now DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows and Mac with a 25% launch discount.

Dimly-lit cantinas in the outskirts of lawless space is when you can usually find the most skilled, specialized mercenaries. Also the best music. And if corporate espionage is your game, you know you'll need to put together a band of the most shady-yet-reliable people available. Those intrepid enough to hunt for bounties, undertake sabotage missions, and navigate the dangers of space while keeping you in good standing with all concerned parties.

The band of Juggernaut Games is also focused on keeping all interested parties happy. So they keep adding more missions, random encounters, diverse environments and tons of loot to their procedurally generated universe, taking into account their community's input along the way. For the remaining months that the game will stay in development, expanding the universe of StarCrawlers and fleshing out the campaign with more dynamic content are their main goals. That is, unless a band of ruthless mercenaries infiltrates their offices and wipes out all that precious code!

Pit your StarCrawlers against the randomly generated hazards of corporate warfare, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 25% discount will last until February 09, 1:59 PM GMT.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.

Niggles: SO anyone bought it yet?. Comments?
Its kinda like Wiz 8 in space, but no open environments, its like you have a hub, where you get jobs from a board, click on a supply shop and you get an interface to buy/sell, or a doctor for healage or reset AP.

The dungeons are very repetitive so far.

The main things are combat , choices and humour.

Combat is kinda like DnD ability wheel like TOEE, you click on a target and choose the ability you wish to use on it from a wheel of abilities. Ite a decent nough system tbh.

Choices. Yeah they are significant, you are always pissing off some faction, doing the right thing will piss off the "bad guys" but may open up unforseen missions with the good guys.

Humour, very self referencing ("Back when I was younger, we used to have to draw our own maps!"), laid back but not in your face, nice classy and low key.

It is a good game and well worth the 13€ if you like this genre.

I dont get the hate for this ID system, you get to try the game, if you dont like it, then you get a no questions asked refund, GOG have really broken the mould with this feature, you get 14 days to live with the game, see what you think, then return it if unsatisified, The other choice is Steams ONLY 2 hours of play before you have to return it. The only other option is buy the game untried at full price at release.....seriously?

Vainamoinen: I did.

I'm not content with the gamma settings, as many environments appear mostly bright white on higher levels. Unfortunately 5:4 resolutions aren't offered (it's an odd screen format, but heck, it's a Sony).
5:4 rez coming next patch :)
thanks for the replies guys. the repetitive environments worry me a bit (not that Grimlock didnt have this slight issue...)....will bite the bullet later and see i guess :)

Repetitive may be too strong a word, they are spaceships (repetitive), but they are different layouts/designs/decor.

Is there a story-based campaign? If so, do you know how long it is? I seem to remember someone mentioning a prologue and three missions.
I only got it last night mate I havent played too much, afaik it is just the prologue and some side missions, with an estimated full release in 6 months.

It would appear to be quite story based from the missions I have played, with the consequenses of decisions, making replyability seem pretty mandatory, I managed to piss of 2/3 factions on just one mission LOL :)

No idea length, sorry :)

JuggernautGames: We have a built-in bug reporter in StarCrawlers that opens a Google survery
Is there any option to disable that? I don't like it much when my games talk to some Google servers. ;)

Maxvorstadt: Hm, I presume that there is no demo of this game, right?

Matruchus: There is always the two week no questions asked refund option for an early access game if you won't like it.
I also would like to see this offer as a (poor) replacement for the good old demos. But you can download and try as many demos as you want without investing money and risking to not get a refund anymore. I'm not so sure how many of the games in development you are allowed to try. I haven't seen a limit anywhere how much and how often you can test and still can get a refund. But there's GOGs "fair use policy" and it's not explained what it means. My question to get some clarification about it hasn't been answered.

As 5:4 resolutions are not (yet) supported, is 4:3 already supported, especially 1600x1200?

Someone just hit lv 100 (max level) and their profile says they played 281 hours, not bad for an EA game

Good news. :) Thanks!

You're welcome :)
As the Linux version is still not added has anyone tried this game under Wine?
I want to like this game.

I've bought all the best gear available at this point plus both of the med kits.

Pick a gray mission.

Get slaughtered on the first encounter while using both med kits.

The only time I get away with anything is by picking a gray mission, looking for all the loot I can before something shows up and then run for the exit and not completing the mission.

My reputation is lower than dirt.

I'm playing the female floating robot thing with the void attack.

I think I need to pick a different class, this one appears to need some balancing.
