"Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead."

Lovecraft's Untold Stories is now available In Development, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The decidedly horrendous bestiary of the Cthulhu mythos is on the prowl and it falls on you to try and contain this madness. Pick your character out of 5 different options (2 during In Development), drive yourself mad with power, and try to make your way through randomly generated levels filled with clues, enigmatic NPCs, and abominable bosses. Will you try to outsmart the cultists by gathering information or take them out with smart use of your ever-growing firepower?

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.
Tits in Lovecraft?... Odd, to say the least.
"Gorgo, Mormo, thousand-faced moon..." and all that jazz?

Action in Lovecraft?
Isn't this kind of missing the point?

DaveMongoose: It really disappoints me that so many games (and other bits of geek culture) misuse "Lovecraft" so much.

The core of Lovecraft's writing was the insignificance and futility of human existence in the uncaring, unknowable vastness of the universe, not "Cultists, Tentacles, and Cthulhu - Oh my!". Give a shotgun to a Lovecraft protagonist and he's most likely to shoot himself...

On top of that, the writing shown in the screenshots is pretty awful. You really don't deserve to slap Lovecraft's name on your game if the best you can come up with is a "hard bitten Private Eye" who is "tough, straight talking and has a keen eye for facts and targets", and you're fine including awkward lines like "The corpse of one of a member of one of the secret societies".
What are you talking about? Nothing screams eldritch horrors from beyond time and space like big alien titties with spiky nipples.
Pixels, glorious pixels everywhere! Too bad it's InDev/EA... I'll wait 'til the release/reviews though it looks gorgeous!
Who else felt the ground shake just now? ;)
Dark Seed and Dark Seed II also contains Giger art, or at least it looks like it.

Actually no, to be Lovecraftian it need to have:
A) "insignificance and futility of human existence in uncaring, unknowable vastness of the universe" in specifically Cthulhu Mythos style which includes

B) "Cultist, Tentacles, and Cthulhu - Oh my!" because

C) fighting and winning against eldritch horrors doesn't make it anything less insignificant in vastness of space.
Tits ! Guns ! Everything I love in Lovecraft stories !
this looks awesome. wish it was further along in development. still might get it anyway.

As much a fan of Lovecraft's work as I am, I'm pretty sick of seeing Cthulhu crap everywhere. (Not quite as sick of Lovecraft rip-offs as stuff ripping off George Romero movies, but getting there.) There are many other great horror writers out there and some of them are more well-suited to video games (e.g., Robert E. Howard wrote great horror stories and...his protagonists actually fight back!).

I kind of regret buying that Cthulhu plush toy back in like 2001...

In fact Conan is Howard's response to the "weak" protagonists of Lovecraft's stories, the problem is that for Conan you still have to pay the rightholders.

Actually there are very few games that have treated Lovecraft in a dignified way, probably the Call of Cthulhu of Bethesda is the most successful (please GOG bring it here again, I didn't have time to buy it the first time). But I would like to highlight these two outgoing games that promise very well, vote for them so perhaps we will have a chance to see them here!

The Sinking City
Call of Cthulhu

In any case, even if with more action, I still appreciate the atmosphere of this game and I hope that it can come out something well done. Maybe we'll see some nice monster less known of the myth, compared to the usual more famous.

I couldn't agree more! Perversely, it was the "Cthulhu crap" that first led me to read Lovecraft because I never felt like I "got the joke", but I've since come to the conclusion that it's just a meme to the majority of people.

... but I suppose an authentic Lovecraft video game would be quite unsatisfying to play because you'd only see the monster once (if at all) and then either get killed, go mad, or discover that you're descended from it (or all of the above).
This game..I had never heard of it until now. It looks great!

May score it this week :)

Its not really a Lovecraftian game unless you add crafting mechanics to the bouncy tits physics.
(I am sorry, i couldn't resist licking the lead paint...)
