Kona, a survival/exploration adventure of supernatural thrills and natural chills, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with a 33% launch discount.

Detective Carl Faubert was just looking to make an easy (Canadian) buck. That's why he agreed to travel to Northern Quebec and investigate the alleged wrongdoings of the local community against the copper mine industrialist who desecrated their land. Join Faubert as he fights to explore and survive the eerie snow glades of 1970's Canada, in a chilling adventure that will test both your mettle and your ability to think on your feet. If you can feel them at all, that is.

Kôna will be delivered in four episodes, with each of them being self-contained but also feeding into the overall arc of this historical rural mystery. The project has grown significantly larger since its Kickstarted inception so, while it's in development, Parabole focus on exterminating bugs, optimizing the game's performance, and trying to make sure that all the diverse gameplay elements are implemented as seamlessly as possible. Like how that scary Wendigo blends with the snowy backdrop... Oh god it's coming this way!

Be the first to reach Northern Quebec and experience the intriguing opening hours of Kona, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Alexandre.Fiset: Linux: Planned for official Launch
Controller: Already supported
Achievements: Planned for official launch per our contract with GOG ;)

5.4 yup, the game is huge :P Will likely goes down a bit as we get rid of some old stuff.

omega64: Achievements are in the contract? 0_o Weird.
Not sure if I should have said that :P, but anyway considering how they helped us getting our game out there, it makes sense that we support Galaxy features.

I guess it does it just seems weird. Though Sony and Microsoft probably force trophy/achievement support. So I guess it makes sense.

If I remember correctly, a working trophy/ achievement system is indeed a requirement for console games. Does Steam/Valve make achievements optional for developers?

In other news, I am now the owner of a ( future ) copy of Kona: Day One, my first "Early Access" game. :D

I don't know if this was already shared here, but here's a link to the game's development blog:

Alexandre.Fiset: Kôna: Day One tells the story of Carl Faubert. This is what you get here for $8. Kôna Day One only.

The next iteration will be another, standalone game and will feature another character in the same universe, with different play style and gameplay mechanics.
Glad to hear it. I think that's the better path for all involved. In this case I will probably pick up this game when it comes out in a few months, and will not worry about the other ones in the series. Unless of course I love the game, then I will at least look forward to the other ones. :)
I have to say this game looks amazing from the trailer and photos, definitely on my wish list

Salut.

Alexandre.Fiset: Yes! I keep writing because I like the look of it :D
I like it too. It's about time this feature was added.
I actually pulled the trigger on this. Considering I wasn't planning on ever buying a GiD, this is a pretty big deal for me. Especially because I'm still holding out on Starcrawlers until release which is a game I've been waiting for. But the devs of Kona seem so nice that I just had to support them.

Same here - I've just bought the game being impressed by the devs involvement.
Okay guys, I still have some unanswered questions and stuff, but here's the deal: From all that I can see I really like your attitude and your willingness to engage with the community via this forum seems to validate my impression. I have found that over the years what matters most is not the individual game, but the quality of the developer and their attitude.

Since you seem like honest guys and just afforded us the trust to release your game DRM free, I will afford you the trust to buy your game to support you. I am curious to see how the final product is going to turn out.

Cheers!
