Kona, a survival/exploration adventure of supernatural thrills and natural chills, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with a 33% launch discount.

Detective Carl Faubert was just looking to make an easy (Canadian) buck. That's why he agreed to travel to Northern Quebec and investigate the alleged wrongdoings of the local community against the copper mine industrialist who desecrated their land. Join Faubert as he fights to explore and survive the eerie snow glades of 1970's Canada, in a chilling adventure that will test both your mettle and your ability to think on your feet. If you can feel them at all, that is.

Kôna will be delivered in four episodes, with each of them being self-contained but also feeding into the overall arc of this historical rural mystery. The project has grown significantly larger since its Kickstarted inception so, while it's in development, Parabole focus on exterminating bugs, optimizing the game's performance, and trying to make sure that all the diverse gameplay elements are implemented as seamlessly as possible. Like how that scary Wendigo blends with the snowy backdrop... Oh god it's coming this way!

Be the first to reach Northern Quebec and experience the intriguing opening hours of Kona, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.

CharlesGrey: What makes you think this isn't a quality project? Have you actually tried it?

From a business point of view, it makes perfect sense to not only pick Early Access games which have been popular and around for a long time ( because that would mean that most potential customers already bought it on Steam ).

At a first glance this seems like a good game and developer, and so far I haven't seen any legitimate claims to the contrary ( claims based on actual facts and experience with the game, that is ).

reative00: You're right about old EA games, yet how can you check the quality of game and developer - friendly reminder of a great start and then failure and abandonment of EA games - when games weren't out anywhere? Yeah, from marketing POV it's a good idea, from players - not so much. Yet, as I say, I'll follow developing process and see if it's any good.
This is why we cut 33% off the final price. We understand the advantages for us, so we give you something in return. Not everyone like it and we get that. The thing is; in the end it results in the game being bigger and better. That is our goal and we are looking forward to releasing the full experience for everyone to enjoy :)
Like I mentioned, the FAQ hit the right notes. The GOGxclusivity is highly interesting. And I love how the devs have been so active throughout the day here.

I still can't bring myself to pull the trigger on EA but, to the devs, I say: hurry! I look forward to throwing my money at you in support. :)
Looks really nice! I'm glad the game will be released on GOG. Maybe I'm backing development, but I'm not going to play it until it's complete. I'm not good in waiting for a story to continue ;-)
Devs getting there own colors and tags now... cool.

Once again, let me urge you (and everyone else) to not abbreviate Early Access as EA. It is bound to eventually create horrible confusion.
Hi devs!
Just got it, thanks a ton for being so original and transparent.
Some stuff I'm curious about: Linux, controller support and achievements. Planned? Feasible?

Thanks!

edit: and oh, 5.4gb? damn huge ep 1, eh?

Linux: Planned for official Launch
Controller: Already supported
Achievements: Planned for official launch per our contract with GOG ;)

5.4 yup, the game is huge :P Will likely goes down a bit as we get rid of some old stuff.

Thanks for the fastest answer I've ever seen! And thanks a ton too for delivering a game with all these features ;D
Wish y'all the best of luck!

ps: still downloading in here ;D
ps2: hope this game gives me a new "angle" on canadians since, after watching ten "Trailer Park Boys" seasons I'm a bit worried that my opinion on canadians isn't the best one ;D

Damn, I've sound like some cold asshole. Don't get me wrong tho! I've looked at this game and it looks really promising. As I stand in one o the previous thread, I don't mind Game in Development, I just don't want to see GoG turning into EA garbage (it was one of the several reasons why I left steam). I wish you all best in the development process and success with the game and as I stand before - I'll follow development process to see how it's going. Good luck! :)

Hahah if your starting point is Trailer Park Boys, then your opinion can *only* change for the better :P

To me, GOG is miles ahead of Steam Early Access. The folks at GOG followed our game blog since our Kickstarter in 2014. When they handpick their games; they mean it, and that is really important part of what makes GID different. That and the money back guarantee.

Anyway, thank you for the good words and btw, I don't think you sounded like an asshole at all, I just like to give our point of view on things and certainly like to read yours as in the end, we are marking games for you guys!

Cheers!

... Wow, Gog's really pushing the in-dev games aren't they now.

Although compared to other crap currently on Steam... I'll just hope they don't push past say 1% of their total titles as being in development.

I might consider this game when it's completed, maybe... probably not...

Alexandre.Fiset: snip
Not against GiD at all but I surely knew that Kôna was somehow different from the others.
Thanks again!
