Disappearances can be deceiving.

Kona, a survival/exploration adventure of supernatural thrills and natural chills, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with a 33% launch discount.

Detective Carl Faubert was just looking to make an easy (Canadian) buck. That's why he agreed to travel to Northern Quebec and investigate the alleged wrongdoings of the local community against the copper mine industrialist who desecrated their land. Join Faubert as he fights to explore and survive the eerie snow glades of 1970's Canada, in a chilling adventure that will test both your mettle and your ability to think on your feet. If you can feel them at all, that is.

Kôna will be delivered in four episodes, with each of them being self-contained but also feeding into the overall arc of this historical rural mystery. The project has grown significantly larger since its Kickstarted inception so, while it's in development, Parabole focus on exterminating bugs, optimizing the game's performance, and trying to make sure that all the diverse gameplay elements are implemented as seamlessly as possible. Like how that scary Wendigo blends with the snowy backdrop... Oh god it's coming this way!

Be the first to reach Northern Quebec and experience the intriguing opening hours of Kona, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.

Twitch alert: Want to find out more about what the heck is going on in Northern Quebec? Grab a pair of warm gloves and some hot beverage and join us on Twitch.tv/GOGcom at 9 PM GMT/ 10PM CET/ 4PM EST.
Lemme paste in a snippet from our intro:

"Kôna: Day One is not finished yet but the early access version looks very promising. The gameplay consists of a really interesting mix of adventure and survival elements. And this gameplay perfectly fits the look & feel of Kôna. The setting evolving around a mystery story is definitely the strength of Kôna, well designed and thoroughly executed, visually appealing, atmospheric and immersive, with a passion for details, elaborated environmental storytelling and good sound design."

We had the pleasure of streaming Kôna on Monday already, jffiset enabled us to do and also joined us to answer questions in chat. And certainly everyone can convince oneself of the attitude the developers show in this thread, so go support them and buy this game.

Thanks for the support :)
And good for you, you might enjoy it more when you open it when less bugs :P
Hey guys!

Regarding feedback: If get around to it, I might assemble a list of (what I think are) easy to fix things that catch my attention. Can I just send them to you via PN in this forum? I could also post them openly but they might contain spoilers, so... Waddya say?

e/
Also I already encountered my first crash. Spoiler Warning: It occured in the dreamy-ish sequence after finding and touching the frozen man near the store. Is there a way to collect crash reports and to send them to you?

Hi there :) For the time being the build is kind of light in spoilers; meaning that we have put blockers where it matters since we want to keep a lot of surprises for the final game. Feel free to use the Bug reports thread. You can also write directly to us using support@parabole.ca which is an email adress regrouping all Kôna devs. We wouldn't recommend using the GOG Chat since we're not receiving notifications for these...

For crashes, there are dumps generated in the game installation folder. Sometimes they are useful, sometimes they are not. Still, feel free to send those our way :)

Cheers!

I wasn't originally sure on this as I am a Kickstarter Backer of "The Long Dark" which in a similar setting. I watched a youtube play to get a feel for it but the thing that made me buy it is all the positive comments about how nice the developers are.

To the devs I say a GIANT *thank you* for being so nice and supportive to the community, thank you for commenting in this thread (as I don't often see devs' comments in threads, certainly not to the level of engagement you have) and also big thank you for DRM free.

I keep all my GoG titles under double layers of encryption ! No one takes those titles, it's just a small way I can protect the devs for trusting us. I adore indie devs and do everything I can to support them. :)

About to play it and I am sure the final one will be absolutely fantastic.

Thank you ! You're awesome ! :)

Sadly the game does not even run :( It just hangs at the "loading screen" and it stops responding to windows so I can't even play it. :(

I set the graphics to low just in case and also saw my giant worry there is no key rebinding which I really need as I am left handed. I use the arrow keys as and not WASD as well as other keys on the rightside. I really hope rebinding is coming else I won't be able to play it properly.

I guess I need to wait for the next update because it just hangs on loading after I select "play" and pick a slot :( :( :( I so wanted to play this.

I posted this in the bug report area too :( Seems others have the same problem :(

Oh, sorry about that. We answered this issue in the bug reports also, but just to make sure:

The loading screen issue is going to be fixed in the next few weeks. Our team is working on something to reduce loading time and also on optimizing the game to give better performances.

Also, one of my collegue will be working on a remapping option next week, so it should be ready for the next update or the one after that.

We'll keep you in the loop for updates ;)
Thank you for that Jeffiset.

To anyone else reading this as well, at the loading screen you just need to wait, it is not crashing, it just takes several minutes. The devs are working on it. If you check out the Kona dedicated game thread you will see how engaging the devs are, they are just amazing.

I jumped in immediately after a quick youtube review and also the praise people here had of the devs.

Ok back to the game now for me, I want to see what else I missed in a particular location :)

Giant thumbs up. That snowstorm is getting stronger ! :)

This is how Early Access should be. I trust this is going to be well worth the price since they have put it on there store page. Unlike Steam allows anyone and everyone to put crap up. Anyway bout to play this and it looks pretty cool
Glad to see Devs venturing in the GiD jungle with preparation and high spirits.
Je vous souhaite toute la réussite possible dans votre projet :)
Sounds quite exciting...Looking forward to how this game works
I am actually really enjoying this, sadly so much of the map is blocked off for now :/

I have seen two patches since i last played, are the patch notes written anywhere? since i would like to know what they actually changed?
