I have admit, the game does look very interesting. Reminds of some of the classics of the past. Wishlisting it for now.

Dillerkind: I'd even go so far and say it's the best-looking Quake-1-tech type game I've seen so far.
avatar
Cadaver747: Why Quake 1 tech? It's Unreal Engine 4.
The game has 3dfx mode which enables blurry texture filtering, like in the old times.
I guess my wording was misleading. Actually I meant games that look kinda like those shooters from the Quake 1 era.
I just popped into the game for the first time since the first demo play, and I had forgotten just how good this game looks. VERY atmospheric and moody. They did a beautiful job with the setting.

The boat ride into the village, the village itself and all of its disease-ridden sounds of suffering. Really made my skin crawl.

But then you go under the village on your first quest, and that area is just gloriously impressive.

I really want to shelve this until it is done, but I'm really itching to see what's around the next corner. From what I've seen so far, really nice work by everyone involved.
How early in development is this?

It doesn't have final levels and final boss?

It's coming out this year and it's been in development for a while now. I'd guess it's almost done.

A bit early: there is 1 hub and 3 large areas (4 quests); 8 enemy types; 4 weapons plus default staff (with 1 upgrade); 1 red mana spell (there are red and blue mana scattered all over); about 3 locked doors, several secret areas. More levels, weapon upgrades, spells and other stuff should be available later. The game is way too easy at the moment, some enemies' AI needs adjustment.

Picked it up two nights ago, really liking what they've done thus far, and considering the throwback graphics style, it's actually super atmospheric, with a sort of "Nightmare Creatures meets Heretic" vibe going for it. It looks really good in 4k, and runs super smoothly, with only some visual glitching here and there, mostly texture streaming related, I'm guessing. I'm sure it'll be ironed out in future updates. It also sort of reminds me of Undying in its graphical styling. Good enough to purchase now? MAYBE. Mainly content related, because there's still not a LOT of it, but I can see this being something I return to in a few months, once Halloween kicks in, and I do my annual replays of games like Heretic, Blood, Realms, Undying, etc.
Graven looks fun. Had been watching it for a few months on various YouTube channels. Glad it came to GOG!

Wonder if there's any chance Slashers Keep will show up here?
Really want to play fully released game, but when it will be released?..

LifeLover: Really want to play fully released game, but when it will be released?..
As interested as I am in Heretic style games, this game is turning out to be the perfect example of why I've grown to hate "In Dev" stuff that are mislabelled 25% complete unfinished early Alpha demo pitches 'released' 2 years too early for the sake of cheap pre-order money, then seemingly silently abandoned with zero even minor updates for +7 months at a time...
I forgot this even existed. It looked promising last year but no updates at all after all this time + review scores that have slumped to 3.6/5 (GOG) or "Mixed" (Steam) + the iffy save system that a lot of people were complaining about + the seemingly complete lack of interest here (no posts on this thread in 7 months), a lot of people seem to have lost interest in it. I wonder if it would have already been finished had they used the GZDoom engine (like Hedon).

I'm not surprised. There are cultural aversions to using the offline installers for the game.

Thou shalt not download GRAVEN images

In all seriousness, this game is an example of why I stay away from "In Development/Early Access" games. 7 months between updates suggests either abandonment or a complete rewrite is in order.

That only took forever. Got this one from the GOG giveaway thread in May 2021, haven't touched it yet as I was waiting for the actual release.
