Let's get physical

Exanima, the dark isometric RPG armed with a unique, physics-based combat system, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 15% launch discount.

You find yourself in a dark dungeon full of dangers shambling out of the shadows. You feel powerless, defenseless, alone. In order to survive, you'll need to grab a weapon and quickly familiarize yourself with Exanima's innovative combat system, which requires your undivided attention and adaptation to its dynamic flow. Every hit has it's own weight, angle, momentum, and impact.
The unconventional mechanics are being constantly refined and polished but Bare Mettle also aim to keep adding new content: complex NPC interactions, ranged and magic-based combat, additional encounters, items, and environments. After having successfully gone through the game's alpha and beta stages, they hope to release this compelling low-fantasy RPG within six to nine months, but as we all know the development process is full of emergent challenges, much like Exanima's core gameplay.

Learn to survive the dungeons by mastering the unique combat mechanics of Exanima, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 15% discount will last until May 23, 12:59 PM UTC.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.

Maxvorstadt: Pre-Alpha version?
Sui Generis is pre-alpha, Exanima is beta.

Maxvorstadt: Pre-Alpha version?
"After having successfully gone through the game's alpha and beta stages, they hope to release this compelling low-fantasy RPG within six to nine months... "
Looks interesting. And as I see on the developers homepage it's the prelude to Sui Generis, a game on Kickstarter that looked really promising.
But I'll still wait till it's finished before I buy anything.

So it`s not even pre-alpha but pre-pre-alpha?

Exanima was born as a standalone prelude to Sui Generis to give backers somehing to play and give feedback on while development continued. We've certainly had a whole lot of feedback, and we've been constantly refining the game to try to meet everyone's (rather high) expectations.

Since then Exanima has grown quite a lot in scope, and is becoming a very substantial game. We found this was actually helpful to continue development towards SG wtihout spoiling it.

We've seen our share of hostile accusations by now, but our intentions are perfectly legitimate. We are developing a very ambitious game to high quality standards, with a small team and budget, anyone who's played it will tell you it's working.

One word of warning, the game is very unforgiving and takes some time to learn as it plays very differently from anything else. It can be a frustrating combination for new players, but we are very keen on its unique gameplay and style and we're not willing to compromise it for the sake of a more newbie friendly experience. This game takes some effort at first, but it's absolutely worth it.

According to the homepage It's beta.
I'm genuinely interested in Exanima since isometric is my kind of thing and physics-based gameplay rings many happy little bells in my head (<- don't even know if this phrase exists but anyway, we talk about too many bells here!) but as always, I'll wait for the finished product, especially since it is a cRPG which can mean "an awful lot of variables and code that can change and mess with the gameplay and my enjoyment".

Anyway, glad to have this, hopefully, little gem here on GOG. I wish you all the best, people of Bare Mettle Entertainment. :)
Looks very interesting, both graphics and gameplay. It might turn out I utterly suck at it of course, but still, I'll gladly try it out once it's actually done.
Sweet, Sold :D
And any plan to release Sui Generis on GOG?

Here's moar feedback: hire a damn writer. Quasi-tolkienesque cud-chewery really doesn't suit the game. You'd want something like Shardik or the Mezentine trilogy. Trust me, a random internet commenter, for I know best.

Can backers get a GOG key?

And I really appreciate that you are developing this game to give something to the backers and to test the battle mechanics while the development of Sui Generis continues. Sui Generis was a very ambitious project (and you hardly reached the funding goal) and I guess that many teams of your size would have given up by now.

I just wish that you would give us backers updates more often.

I'm guessing you're basing this purely on the screenshot on the game's page, which is a very unusual example. Each piece of lore in the game is quite unique and specific, and all of them should be interpreted only as the particular author's views or intent. This is by far the most fantasy themed piece of lore in the game, and is related to a sort of religious myth.

@Azhdar
When SG is released we'll surely put it on GOG. It probably won't be for some time yet, we'd rather not release it until it provides a fairly complete and polished experience.
Bought this from Bare Mettle's site a while back. It's pretty tough.
I havent regretted yet any of my purchases of gogs 'in development' games, all have been a load of fun to play. this game looks really atmospheric and immersive, tho top down view its close in enough to actually see whats going on unlike other games. definitely wish listed pending funds
