Let's get physical

Exanima, the dark isometric RPG armed with a unique, physics-based combat system, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 15% launch discount.

You find yourself in a dark dungeon full of dangers shambling out of the shadows. You feel powerless, defenseless, alone. In order to survive, you'll need to grab a weapon and quickly familiarize yourself with Exanima's innovative combat system, which requires your undivided attention and adaptation to its dynamic flow. Every hit has it's own weight, angle, momentum, and impact.
The unconventional mechanics are being constantly refined and polished but Bare Mettle also aim to keep adding new content: complex NPC interactions, ranged and magic-based combat, additional encounters, items, and environments. After having successfully gone through the game's alpha and beta stages, they hope to release this compelling low-fantasy RPG within six to nine months, but as we all know the development process is full of emergent challenges, much like Exanima's core gameplay.

Learn to survive the dungeons by mastering the unique combat mechanics of Exanima, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 15% discount will last until May 23, 12:59 PM UTC.

Note: This game is currently in development. See the FAQ to learn more about games in development, and check out the forums to find more information and to stay in touch with the community.

anothername: "your knave got killed by an arrow, getting out of your armor on your own takes 20 realtime minutes, you cannot re-equip it on your own; next bathroom break is in about 1 hour" :P

ET3D: I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that. Who died? If it's your character he'd certainly not get out of armour any more.

Edit: and if you have a problem with the time, then you probably can't watch any movie or TV or read any book, because skipping the time of unimportant events is rather standard in storytelling.
A "knave" is a male servant, for example one employed by a knight to get him in and out of his armour.

Mixed up words. I meant squire, not knave. Sorry. Less poker deck fiddling for me. :/
Thanks for the answer.
I've watched some youtube videos and the fight scenes indeed look amazing, compared to well... pretty much any game role-playing or otherwise - well done! :)

Oh... so it can be used too? Unintentional correct, like it :D

Yes. "Knave" in this meaning is archaic, but still correct. Nowadays it mostly carries overtones of dishonesty, unlike "squire".

Which actually fits the setting quite well. Well played sir, well played.

Well, I still don't understand how he's supposed to get out of the armour after dying.

The subject ("you") is a knight. He did not die. His knave or squire, who had been helping him in and out of his armour, had died.

Perfectly stated & nothing more to add :)
Saw this in the morning and was about to buy the game since it looked awesome, the description and the reviews were promising.

But I had to hurry to work, so I did not invest.
And I am thankful for that!

I had the opportunity to play the game and I am absolutely not the hard-hard-hardcore gamer to enjoy this game (maybe only at the current state of development, but I doubt it reading the developers comments).

And I don't share the developers opionion that only perma-death leads to fun ("what's the point of a game if you can't lose?" - For a single-player game? To be entertaining as long as I want, played in a way I want, that is).
The game looks interesting, but it sounds like the save system is quirky with save points, and is not save anywhere. I don't really care for such save systems.

Bare_Mettle: One word of warning, the game is very unforgiving and takes some time to learn as it plays very differently from anything else. It can be a frustrating combination for new players
And what makes matters worse, there are some "breaks" in the controls. Like in one room where you can move things (big bottles for example) that can't be moved in the next room. Ok, I admit that might be because it's in development, but still....

I thought in Exanima you played one character.

Only 1 fixed and 1 optional save point at the moment....

I believe anothername's original post was a joke on game realism in general, not strictly related to Exanima.
