A new breed of space game.

EVERSPACE™, an intense roguelike space shooter is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com. Its price during In Development is 25% lower than it will be once the game gets fully released.

Everything in EVERSPACE™ is meant to be spectacular. It presents a vision of space a far cry from the desolate expanses we're so used to – instead, offering up beauty that's hard to match, tons of surprises, and easy-to-pick-up action gameplay worthy of the coolness we expect from space combat.

With feedback from 10,000 testers in the closed beta, the project has already seen its share of improvements – including a significant content update for its launch in development. Still, ROCKFISH Games already have a plan for new content (including new ships, layers, and fully voice-acted non-linear story) and updates all the way up until the release. For a closer look at the development process, check out the recently-gone-public Beta forums on the developer's website.

Discover a procedurally generated, roguelike galaxy unlike any other in EVERSPACE™, DRM-free on GOG.com!

Dr_Neuro: Hey, what happened with the 25% discount "while the game is in develpoment"? Now the game is showing full price...
Everspace's price will be increased to 39.99 when released.

To quote Konrad:

Using US pricing as an example – up until now, the game was listed at 39.99 USD with a 25% off up until release. The total was 29.99 USD.

Now, it's simply listed at 29.99 USD to be in line with other distributors, and is planned to increase on release.

So the discount is still there, but no longer as well highlighted.
Understood. A lot of thanks for the information!
I'm always a sucker for space games so I was immediately interested. However, there are three magic incantations that turn me off instantly and irrevocably towards any game: "open-world sandbox" (="find your own fun because we don't have any budget left to actually entertain you", incredibly common these days), "zombie / survival" (="we couldn't be bothered to think of a more creative challenge - shut up and swing that chainsaw..."; if you ever got sick and tired of "shark week" or "dyno week" yet again for the eleventy billionth time on TV you understand why I hate those with a passion - these days you open any faucet and zombies come pouring out) and finally... "roguelike" (="blink and you're dead. Hahaha. Yes, we totally are sadists. Now do it again, gimp. Again. AGAIN!" - well guess what I'm here to relax, not to jump through impossibly high hoops). Sadly, 101% of games these days seem to pride themselves on having one or more of these attributes - as if they were somehow good things. Guess which one this game falls foul of for me...

It's not really a roguelike, though. It's got persistent progression. After death you can spend all the money you had to persistently upgrade your ship with enhancements such as increased speed, better shield capacity, more weapon slots, etc.

To each his own, though.
Hopefully this doesn't turn into another No Man's Sky crap.
high rated
There seem to be a lot of people on the fence about whether or not to give Everspace a try. Personally, I'm really enjoying it. Combining roguelike elements with a space setting is something that really appeals to me, and whilst the game is still in very early access, the content that is currently available is very well polished and nothing short of stunning. I honestly don't think I've ever seen such breathtaking visuals in a space game ever before in my life. I can't imagine what it would look like in VR, but at 1440p it's phenomenal.

The soundtrack contributes greatly to the overall atmosphere of the game, giving it that kind of "space cowboy" feel - very reminiscent of Cowboy Bebop, if anyone happens to be familiar with the anime. I'm not sure that everyone will share the same sentiment as me, but I love the borderline corny voice acting that I feel really adds to the game's charm.

Control wise, I am honestly surprised at how tight and weighty the controls feel for such an "arcady" kind of space game. Movement is fluid and responsive, and the handling is perfect. The controls did take a little bit of getting used to as I often confused the hover mechanic of the left stick with the pitch, but I'm slowly starting to adjust.

Overall, this game is fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend it to anyone that's a fan of either space and/or roguelike games. If however you don't like rogulikes, it's unlikely that you will enjoy Everspace and that's perfectly ok. Not everyone is prepared to go back to the beginning and try the same thing, time and time again.

The only problem with Everspace resides in its current asking price, which I personally believe is too high for a product this early in its development. It's very easy for developers to make promises, but whether they come through in the end is anybody's guess. If you're prepared to live with this, which I was, then go chuck Everspace in your shopping cart and get ready for lift off! Otherwise, it may be worth your while to wait it out a little bit longer and see how things look a month or two from now before pulling the trigger. Honestly though, judging by how much work the devs seem to have put into the game already, I'm hopeful that the finished product is going to be nothing short of outstanding.

I did a short video that explains all the mechanics of the game, how it works, what you need to do, what you can do, and pretty much everything else that I could think of that would be useful to someone wondering whether or not this game is for them. Feel free to check it out if you're interested.

After I downloaded and played the pirated version, I immediately regreted in doing so and bought the game.
So, is the promised Linux version coming?

Where did they mention those issues? I'm not following it much, since during crowdfunding, they didn't announce Linux support and GOG release in time, so I didn't back them.

In the link you posted earlier it said they were having issues with shaders on Linux that they expected to iron out by the end of September. I was assuming you had posted because they said they fixed them somewhere and GOG was behind on grabbing that one from the developer. :P

Ah, I thought you meant something new since then. I assumed the last issues were already fixed, and now it's second half of October, that's why I asked when it's coming.
October is almost over. Is the Linux version coming?

Sounds like it'll take some more time: http://steamcommunity.com/app/396750/discussions/0/353916981477131900/?ctp=5#c305509857565010044
