A new breed of space game.

<span class="bold">EVERSPACE&trade;</span>, an intense roguelike space shooter is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com. Its price during In Development is 25% lower than it will be once the game gets fully released.

Everything in EVERSPACE™ is meant to be spectacular. It presents a vision of space a far cry from the desolate expanses we're so used to – instead, offering up beauty that's hard to match, tons of surprises, and easy-to-pick-up action gameplay worthy of the coolness we expect from space combat.

With feedback from 10,000 testers in the closed beta, the project has already seen its share of improvements – including a significant content update for its launch in development. Still, ROCKFISH Games already have a plan for new content (including new ships, layers, and fully voice-acted non-linear story) and updates all the way up until the release. For a closer look at the development process, check out the recently-gone-public Beta forums on the developer's website.

Discover a procedurally generated, roguelike galaxy unlike any other in <span class="bold">EVERSPACE&trade;</span>, DRM-free on GOG.com!

micktiegs_8: Been watching SplatterCat play this and looks great. I have to lol at the person who complains a game that intends to be roguelike/lite is 'too difficult'.

Ixamyakxim: I absolutely LOVE this guy.

I'm not big into the "Let's Play" scene and don't know the big players, but I'll occasionally do a youtube video search for a game if I think it looks particularly interesting but was off my radar. That way I can get a sense of what it's like and if it'd be my cup of tea.

I've hit on this guy's videos several times and his gameplay chatter and information is fantastic. Really, really good stuff.

Would be great to see him hook up with GoG.
I second this request!

alexv906: How close to descent: freespace is this game ._.

i like freespace
Looking at gameplay videos, it's closer to FTL meets 3D space shooter.

lazydog: where on the gog homepage does it state that this game is in development?

Honestly, I have more important things to do than click on a release to then discover the full game does not exist.
Like writing a forum post about it? :P
Pretty sure a single click requires less effort.

Wishlisted.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a 25% discount on this earlier and now it is set back up to full price. Could anyone confirm this? Make sure I'm not going a little bit crazy (been a long week thus far)

There was; but for some reason, the discounted price on GOG matched the base price on Steam. So the discount was removed and the base price was lowered to about the same price you'd have paid with the 25% off discount.

It says in the release note:
The price during In Development is 25% lower than it will be once the game gets fully released.
Maybe GOG got confused about the pricing scheme the developers intended / chose to opt for a lower base price instead of a 25% off discount which would have last until the proper release.

Thank you Tyrrhia, that clears it up. I know when games launch on GOG they do tend to go through a kind of discount limbo phase, so wasn't sure if I was missing something.
25% off for a game still in development is too low discount, for the risk you take.

In six months after release will be 35% discount anyway.

But you can play it, instead of getting bored of it before get completed.

Confirmed!

Using US pricing as an example – up until now, the game was listed at 39.99 USD with a 25% off up until release. The total was 29.99 USD.

Now, it's simply listed at 29.99 USD to be in line with other distributors, and is planned to increase on release.

Cheers for the confirmation and clearing that up Konrad. Much appreciated.

I think that is a horrible way to sell the game. It should be denoted on the gamepage (right next to the price tag) that this is a pre-release price and, if you know the release price, inform people of that as well (on the price tag.)

It's zero risk. You can refund it for no reason within two weeks of purchase.

This. I don't mean it's unethical or anything, and obviously I don't blame GOG, but it seems pointless to have what is effectively a promotional discount and not promote.

And on the other hand, there's a soon-to-be-released game I'm waiting for whose page plainly states: preorder now [for full price] (no EA, just a regular preorder), please note that you may miss out on release-day discounts. Thanks for the warning I guess, but why preorder then?
played for a couple of hours last night. combat is punchy, ship is extremely agile, graphics are really nice, seems like it has some serious potential.
