Ghost in the cell.

Dead Cells is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 25% discount until November 20, 2PM UTC.
Roguelite? Metroidvania? This is RogueVania: progressive exploration, replayability, and the adrenaline pumping threat of permadeath; but it's YOUR own ability that matters the most!
Freeze, zap, pierce or fireball your enemies as you expertly swerve around them to reach the next impossible boss.
Akin to its protagonist, the game is constantly evolving and has just received its biggest update yet, exclusive to GOG for the next 24 hours.

Make sure to grab its atmospheric Soundtrack separately.

And great again! After a decade (felt) GOG gets it! But just like with oh so many other games very too late. So... the times where i bought a title a second time to support this platform here are over...
Nice job, guys!
Like so often: a real letdown - but i got used to it with that store.

God dammit, I'm sick of this shit, roguelike stuff is a plague on modern game design, the art and animation look gorgeous, why couldn't it just be a regular metroidvania with properly crafted levels and normal progression?

Also as mqstout said, roguelike and metroidvania don't co-exist, they are completely opposing design philosophies... I question the focus of your game Motion Twin.

filbz2441: Hey yeah it's cross-platform. You'll see scores from Steam and wherever else we release the game as well as your GoG scores. The only thing is that the two platforms must be on the same version.

So here, Steam doesn't yet have the new version that is on GoG, so you won't see all the scores until we update Steam tomorrow.

Cheers,

Steve.
Will it also be multi-platform in future (Mac and Linux)?

You quoted me, but, yes, my thoughts. It looks like a lot's gone into this and it's gorgeous and seems to have a good "core gameplay loop", but how can "roguelite" and "metroidvania" be used together, when they're diametrically opposed? Make nice levels (without permadeath...) and I'd buy right away!

Likewise.

paladin181: Hell yeah. I love this game. It is incredible for a roguelite with some really nice features. Question, will the leaderboards be crossplay, or am I wasting my time to get this here when I have it on Steam already?

Hello!

Huinehtar: Interlinked.
You are nowhere close to baseline.

The sound of uninspired, dull and repetitive whining told me from afar that a new roguelike had to have been released.

And it´s a good one! Got it earlier on Steam and it's great fun, one of my favourites. The core gameplay loop is very solid, with smooth controls and fast-paced combat, the pixel-art is of high quality and the soundwork satisfyingly reinforces the action. Very playable already and more than worth its price.

In terms of difficulty it can get fairly challenging, but this is mitigated by persistent upgrades and it never reaches maximum twitch-fuckery.

Apparently we sound exactly how the game looks :D
Needed to take a break from Mario Odyssey, and so far (got through the first boss and making my way through the Clock Tower) I'm having a blast.

This is the sole reason why I won't buy it...Everything in this game screams buy me now, except the repetition of perma-death/start from level one, I hated this game mechanic in 1991, I hate this game mechanic now!

That zing could have stung had you not cocked up the context! Dead Cells is gorgeous! Seriously, look at that title screen, look at the areas, look at how smooth everything is in motion. There's no denying that this is a good looking game.

All I see is yet another pixelation, just like dozens of others.
