Yeah, glad to see it finally here as I talked about it back in 2014:

For people on the fence, the old web demo is still available so you can try it to get a good preview:

Well companies can hold demos and trials behind pay walls - oh wait that's been done already.

Well companies can start designing games to be more abut future paid content - wait, that's been done too.

Companies can start removing basic things like alternate skins and cheat modes that were originally fun extras as paid additina - wait that's been done too.
"CrossCode, a 16-bit action-RPG that will make any retro-gamer squeal with delight... "

The fuck is a "retro-gamer"? Does anyone here actually call themselves a "retro-gamer"? Just sounds like awful marketing speech to me.

"You get the puzzles of Zelda-esque dungeons and are rewarded with the great variety of equipment you know and love from RPGs."

A great variety of equipment and tools is a Zelda feature. I was expecting them to advertise their great story and dialogues (?), since that is something Zelda generally doesn't have.

Also, it's rather ironic they're releasing this as an unfinished "In Development" title, since one of the main advantages of the 16-Bit console age was the fact that games were finished and highly polished on release day. You didn't have to worry about problems or missing features, at least when you bought one of the major games by Nintendo, Sega etc.

All that said, this does actually look quite good. But personally I'll wait until release day and some ( post-release ) reviews before I pick up a copy.
Doubtful about the pricing again... :/

I think what they mean about the equipment is in reference to the plethora of stat modifying armor and weapons you'd typically find in an RPG. Zelda-style equipment that unlocks new areas or abilities takes the form of elemental powers here. It does have some really nice story and dialogue too, so far anyway.

It's pretty natural to be skeptical of early-access projects these days but this one is worth at least keeping an eye on to follow up on release, even if you don't pick it up right now. Anticipated release based on the roadmap and historical development pace is in about six months, give or take (and barring something unexpected). Also don't take "in development" to mean "here's an hour-long teaser demo and we promise you'll love the actual game when it's out whenever." That demo exists and is free; this development version actually has a couple dozen hours of content already, depending on how thoroughly you want to explore and quest.
had this wishlisted on steam for a long time... good :) I cancelled there and wishlisted here ;)
I won't say for the other people, but I personally got tired of almost endless stream of quasi-retro games here on GOG, and I got tired of almost endless stream of JRPG of all sorts here.
Former ones are just BAD, and latter ones are all identical.

Pixel graphics. Not seeing the appeal at all...

In that case you might wait for quite a long time. As this won't happen all too soon.
The bundle we did back in the days was to get some more followers and it actually helped to increase the fanbase quite a lot.

If everything goes well, CrossCode will fully launch before or in September. Don't expect to be the game any cheaper than now till then. And till at least a year after the full release :)
Great! I was introduced to this game about two years ago, and I loved how detailed the world looked—it still does! Though I’ll wait for the really finished version before considering buying it. (I’m aware that there’s already a lot of content but you never know what will happen.)
Pixely graphics, anime-ish style and in-development... a perfect storm of "nope".
