Take the chance to return to Faerûn, a magic land that needs heroes more than ever. A vicious cult marches across the Sword Coast, uniting every race of monsters and men under the banner of a cryptic god they call the Absolute.

As chaos strikes at Faerûn's foundations, not even you may escape its talons. Imprisoned by the mind flayers, you're being infected with their horrid parasite. Before you can become one of them, mind flyers’ airship crashes in the Sword Coast outlands. You set out for civilization, desperate for a cure for the parasite festering in your brain… only to discover that all roads lead to the legendary city of Baldur's Gate.

Baldur’s Gate III is now available as the DRM-free game in development on GOG.COM! At first I thought it was the full release, but then I remembered it's an InDev title, so it looks like a wishlist for now, as I don't buy InDev/EA titles simply because it's an unfinished game that is not guaranteed to ever be finished...

Sure, Larian studios are one of the good developers, but still, seeing as 2020 is shit, nothing surprises me any more!

kmanitou: How many zlotys is it?
199 zł. That's around 70 CAD.
Wish I had spare money.

Every time I think about BG it reminds me old good times. :)

paladin181: Also, import of BG 2 character? Is that a thing?

Is this story a direct continuation of that one? Is the game Turn-based (as per the tags) or RTWP (as per the description)?
Considering that time-lapse between BG 2 and D&D 5E Forgotten Realms is around 150 years, I seriously doubt that import of BG character is possible.

No, you start with a new level 1 character. At the end of Throne of Bhaal your character is a veritable god, able to call down meteor storms and summon planar entities. By the end, you're fighting greater demons and celestials. Even the original BG3 that was in-development at Black Isle was going to start with a new character, because the BG2 protagonist's power level had completely flown off the rails by the end.

Also, depending on the choices you made during Throne of Bhaal, your character might not really be in a position to still be "adventuring" -- at least in the traditional sense of the word.

A different story that takes place 150 years later, but is influenced by the aftermath of events from the first two games. So not a direct continuation of the BG1/2 protagonist's story, but Bhaal's legacy plays some part in the story.

And the game is turn-based, like Divinity: Original Sin 1 & 2.

paladin181: I'd imagine most of the content is there, if unplayable.
Perhaps, but they may intentionally leave out a good bit of content to prevent people from modding their way into unreleased areas or data-mining voice lines that could spoil later parts of the story. I'm sure there's a lot of common art assets like environment textures for various biomes and interiors, creature models, effects, music, etc. But I bet most of the audio from Act II and beyond is not included yet. That takes up a lot of space, and there is A LOT of voice acting in the game. I wouldn't be surprised to see the final release go over 200GB.
In a week or so I'll finally have downloaded the game, it wouldn't be as bad if the gog downloader was still around.

My BG 2 character was an elf. soooooo. 150 years isn't a prohibitive amount of time. But further, how will they know what choices I made to affect the events in this game, if the unfolding of events is based on events in BG/BG2? Are they just going to guess? Ask you, like in TW 3? Or are they just going to assume that I made certain choices because OF COURSE that's how everyone played the game?
Finally, I've been waiting for this. Yay! However, my 2016 MBP with Radeon 460 is just barely specced to run this.. If this is good, it's time for an upgrade.

If it's like D:OS2, then it's a good native port that uses Metal effectively and doesn't need super-high specs.

That specific D&D setting was f'ed very hard and unpleasant with a magical equal of a global apocalypse to explain some streamlining and whatnot with the introduction of D&D 4th Ed. Big hate point for a lot of pre 4th Ed FR fans.

So expect any "lasting" changes made or anything of relevance explained away with "it got obliterated".

Sadly my biggest hurdle in getting the game even if everything else is great. :/

gog pls, just hire a part-timer to delete trash in the reviews in general lol :D
I have lived to witness it.

What do I get for the AAA in-dev credits spent: extra content/inventory(doesn't seem so), reduced price(doesn't seem so) or sth else?
Thanks Larian :)

If I had a saved game from the early access version, will it be possible to continue that game once the final game is released?
Fingers crossed for a native Linux port at some point, given it's using Vulkan :-)

Also: "Gather your party before venturing forth." That's printed on the banner on the GOG front page. Is that the tagline?

I thought I didn't like Larian's humor, but my opinion is changing ... rofl ... XD

Probably not, even if it is as a general rule it is best to start a new game with all the changes that will be implemented between now and full release. We don't know what kind of bugs your save can keep between versions :)
