TrevorWilliams: Jealous that you own four of them. I'm a HOMM freak but only tracked down three of them so far.

And has anyone actually installed multiple Chronicles after this unbundling? Perhaps it doesn't recreate the base game each time and doesn't really take up the extra space.

mrkgnao: The issue is that it takes space when you backup the installers (you do backup all your installers and bonuses, don't you?).
Nope, and I never will. Every second spent making backups is completely irrational imho, and a second away from playing or something more important. In the unlikely event that GOG screws me over or goes under, whatever I need is on the net.

Backups of important data, yes. But last I checked these are games.

Anything i paid hundreds of dollars on is important. You don't launch your HDTV out of the window because it's just entertainment.

RottenRotz: Because they are separate games..And as stated above..its not the real issue here
They are seperate game yes ; but

a / they are sold in a bundle : you don't have a separate gamecard for each game
b / they could have keep the bundle entry and add a seperate download for each game, it was already done for some games in a bundle (ishar , commandos (french) , i miss some)
c / they splitted bundles , with duplicate bonus for each entry -> it makes backup the collection quite difficult.
d / they are lying to us , this is done for Galaxy and i don't like to be taken for an idiot ..

i agree for the unbundling but not with a shelf in this state.

you may disagree to some points, but in my opinion having so much customers whith so different feelings, make the execution of this a disaster. (and i don't speak about the quality control, which seems close to none).

Apart from this being, like, the dumbest thing ever, on a side note i'm just noticing that many of the new covers are god awful, or it's just me? And many of them have almost unreadable text, making it very difficult to understand what the hell am i looking at.
Seriously, GOG, put a friggin switch to allow users to either bundle or unbundle the games, because as it is the thing is a nightmare for anybody having more than 50 games. i can't find anything in this ugly mess.

If anyone's interested, i've created a request on the community wishlist for a feature allowing users to bundle/unbundle games at will, which will satisfy both those who need big games to be divided into smaller downloads and those who think the unbundling is annoying, giving us, the users, the power to decide what to do.
I think this will also be beneficial to people like me who consider the unbundling useful in certain situation, but very problematic in others.
If you like the idea, feel free to vote it to give it visibility on GOG's eyes:

Wow, the unbundling added about 50 games to my account.

Honestly, I don't mind it too much. Most of the covers look nice, but the copy/pasted ones are annoying, like for Police quest and Quest for Glory.

However, I do now have this beast on my shelf:

I would add to that the wish for an option to download bundled games for those games that were unbundled and will be unbundled in the future for people who prefer bundled games.

Just noticed this....seems ok and I like the idea but I have Cognition episodes 1-4 in my library and for some reason they are labelled episode 1, 2, 4, and 4 ...so unless its just mislabelled one of them it seems I have episode 4 twice and 3 is missing............

Everything else is ok though

EDIT: nevermind, if I open the download page one of the episode 4's is in fact episode 3 despite the fact it's labelled as another episode 4 on my main shelf....odd, but as long as all the episodes are there I'm not too worried

Not sure if really I see the point in separating each installment of an episodic game in the game library though... bundles/individual games in a series is different

Nice, I like seeing all the pretty artwork, and having a more accurate game count, not to mention being able to download specific titles from bundles, without having to DL the whole bundle. Once all the bugs and glitches get ironed out, such as boxarts that are the same (or wrong, HOMM V Tribes of the East has Battle Isle 2 art in List View), bonus content having the product_bonus_XXXXX issue, and so forth, I think I'll quite like this change. Keep up the good work!
I finally refreshed my account and sorted everything to the way I like it. *shrug* It's just not a big deal to me. I'd feel weird to bemoan shelf clutter since this isn't a real bookshelf I'm talking about, although I do think GOG should look into options for people who want to the bundles back or allow users to create sub-folders. More options never hurts.
Yeah great thanks-.- When Cultures 1+2 where bundled there was a german version (which I preferred) available. I thought GOG was planning to improve the availability of german translations and now they're just removing them?

HypersomniacLive: Because the client is not coded to handle things this way?
Because GOG coders never use the simplest way to make something work if there is a convoluted one.

Totally.

Previously: ultima parts 1,2,3 is a single entry, and 4,5,6 is another one, then ultima 4 is there again as a separate one, then parts 7, 8, 9 are however completely separated while underworld 1+2 is bundled... not to mention some episodes of a single games being separated? "omg, so amazing, so perfect, so clear and obvious, it's like heaven but even better"

Today: every game has its own separate single entity entry: "omg, convoluted, gog is going downhill, drms are coming next, abandon the ship"
Just wanted to say that when I read this the first thing that popped into my head was the ability to create custom stacks of games. I could stack all the games in a series or all the rpgs click on that and it would expand to show its contents mayhap make it so you could add custom covers?

As to some of the underlying reasons for this. As good as GOG installers are I've always wished that there was just a compressed archive. Or make the game files accessible via torrent or git or ftp for all that I care the main thing for me is that it be a generic application. I will not be using GOG galaxy client not at least until an open source alternative is made, at very least and then only for downloading updates in a more sensible way than pulling the whole game again.
Oh, boy.

As if having to reorganize my games wasn't bad enough, after going through my library to download new installers, I am shocked to find that at least one of my games is MISSING.

No joke. I purchased the Quest for Glory Pack long ago, and after the 'unbundling', I do not have an entry for the QfG1 EGA original version! I am POSITIVE that it was in the original bulk installer. All the other games, including the QfG1 VGA remake are still there as separate entries.

It's probably just an honest mistake that needs to be fixed, but seriously, GOG, you need to be more careful. This is the kind of thing that causes customers to flip their lid.
