Don't get me wrong though, despite my reserves concerning episodic games/expansions/multiple game versions, I like the idea of separating different games sold together as a bundle. For instance, I liked it when I got Mortal Kombat and saw that it's already like that.

PaterAlf: Damned, it just occured to me that the unbundling will destroy my 10% quota. I always try to have at least 10% of games in my library that I successfully completed. Of course there will be some games that I can add to the completed section when GOG is unbundling the packs. But on the other hand there will be a lot of new games from packs that I've never touched so far.
I hear you, I though the same thing. The quota will go down for sure. ;)

Feedback from "un"-bundled games so far (or rather, games that already put multiple boxes on the shelf). Do - please - try to mark the separate parts with proper compatibility flags, or whatever you do, it makes them easier to find. For example: searching for "linux" on the shelf currently doesn't show Supreme League of Patriots despite the three episodes being Linux and OS X compatible.

Time to download what I haven't already - better safe than sorry, and all that. Cheers for the heads up.

andysheets1975: Seems like the solution would be go on a case-by-case basis. For entries that are obviously comprised of completely separate games, like the Tomb Raiders, split them up. No reason to get silly on episodic games, though.
avatar
Maighstir: Except that episodic games are already split up in some cases. Supreme League of Patriots and Cognition for two examples (might be the only two, I'm not sure).
When one game (Cognition) organizes it in an awful way that's no reason to do it to the rest of the library.

I didn't say it was good, though I see benefits and drawbacks from both ideas.

How does Steam handle this? Just wondering.

Thanks for warning us. Would it be feasible to send an email to each user reporting the list of changes made to their account or the list of games affected by this change ? This to allow us to check nothing went wrong. Thanks !

ZaineH: It sounds like it could get very messy for packs with several versions of the same game,
avatar
Maighstir: As for several versions, Tie Fighter and X-Wing were separated since release into two packs each, for 1994/1998 and 1993/1998 respectively.
That's nice to know. I don't have any of the Star Wars games so my only reference for split apart games is Cognition. Thanks for the heads up!
nvm read the whole blue post

i wonder what more changes galaxy will bring about on gog ...

Not a pretty good idea, for all titles in bundles :

American Mc Gee Grimm , ok what's the problem ? , it"s good at it is , oh wait 3 seasons ..... no really i don't see the point to.split the title in season ... you need to download the whole 3 seasons to have the complete story.

As opposed , i requested many times to have all episodes under the same entry for Cognition , for the reason above and because bonus are always the same for all episodes.

Commandos serie, Tomb Raider serie and such, for example are good candidates.

i suspect there will many duplicate bonus items .... because GOG never had time to correctly cleaning duplicate bonus content (see Cognition or some titles which have deluxe edition upgrade or such). And i don't count the product_bonus_ xxxx: :(

So instead creating more mess, start to clean the existing one.

Ugh, I didn't think about that. So will I get four copies of the same wallpaper/soundtrack/etc, or will there be yet another folder apart from the games which house those?

I can't speak for games that are sold only as a bundle, as I don't have one there. For games that are available to buy both as a bundle and separately (like Heretic + HeXen Collection), if you buy the bundle, then the games are listed separately in your account (Thus, there is no Heretic + HeXen Collection entry, but entries for Heretic, HeXen, the expansion for HeXen and HeXen II).

Will this finally "fix" the "problem" with Gold editions like Sword of the Stars: The Pit or Omerta Gold not showing up as "owned" despite having all the components in your collection?

Cognition is the worst case scenario ;)

here some others titles with actual issues (last time i checked)

Lords of Xulima : avatars in base game & dlc
Shadowgate : all bonus for the standard version are also present in the special edition subdirectory edition
Wasteland 2 : soundtrack (4 choir songs, FLAC) + soundtrack (4 choir songs, MP3)in kickstarter edition & classic edition upgrade

i don't have all the catalog , but i suppose there are some others titles with this problem.

so the point is , before doing what GOG want to do , is to reconsider the tiltes they want to unbundle and be very carefull about duplicate bonus ..

Generally you can buy all games separately already, but you can buy multiple games in discounted bundles. For example, you can buy Blackwell , [url=http://store.steampowered.com/app/80340/]Unbound, , and [url=http://store.steampowered.com/app/80360/]Deception separately, or you can get The Blackwell Bundle with all four games for cheaper.
When you buy a bundle, each game is treated as a separate entry in your library.
