budejovice: It's probably been answered somewhere. Will these games now be available for individual purchase?
No. Answered in OP.

Thank you. I'm missing a lot these days. Someone PM me when it's time to opt out of Galaxy.

Based on some inside skinny I got, I'd say download everything in your library now. This is not intended to be panic mongering, but neither is it a joke.

Did anyone get a chance to download the PDF file with the list?

Looking at the list, this unboundling endeavour is going to cause a lot of clutter.

mrkgnao: I assume it is too late to convince you to cancel this endeavour altogether, but I do have one request.

Please name the unbundled game so that when sorted by title all the games of one bundle will be located consecutively on one's shelf. Please!

I can't think of a user who would want "Beyond Zork" under B and "Zork III" under "Z".
This is very reasonable request; what makes you think they'll listen to you?

Ciris: Galaxy wasn't supposed to affect other users, and this is affecting us.
As I said in my initial post, and in this one as well, the change isn't dictated by the introduction of the GOG Galaxy Client. Instead, it's a change we'd been planning and a change that's been asked for many times that we're implementing at this time. The fact that it'll make for faster installations when using the optional client is just an extra bonus :)
Thank you for your answer. Could you please point me to the wishlist entry that requested this feature. I would like to see how many people voted for it.

Thanks. I've been working on my update backlog and should finish the Insomnia haul today. I hope others are doing the same.

Tannath: Question: isn't the Ultima 4 bundled in Ultima 4+5+6 the same game as Ultima 4: Quest of the Avatar?
avatar
IAmSinistar: Awesome. Hopefully when they unbundle it, they can do the same with it that they do with Sword of the Stars: The Pit, where owning all the pieces doesn't equate to owning the Gold Edition.
Out of curiosity, why is that a good thing re: Sword of the Stars? I always thought it was a bug (or, at best, a misfeature) since every time it goes on sale, it's trying to sell me the Gold Edition in spite of it having nothing to add.

It's not, I'm being sarcastic. I have all the SotS:TP pieces, and they continue to offer the GE to me as though it's going to give me something I don't already have. Very annoying.
I have mixed feelings about this change, but generally speaking, I don't mind. When I want to play a game from a collection, I usually play only one at a time anyway, so it will certainly be easier to just be able to download the games individually.

That said, since GOG is now updating our accounts libraries, is there any chance that the "empty space" bug will be looked at? I'm talking about the empty spot on the shelf that was left behind due to the removal of the Witcher Adventure Game Beta (and no, refreshing the account doesn't fix the problem). It's not a huge issue, but since GOG is currently focusing on updating the library, it would be nice if they tried to fix some of the issues plaguing it along the way.

I found nothing on the Wishlist under "unbundle" or "split". A search for "separate" turned up one relevant Wishlist request.

At 17 votes I can see why GOG felt the need to act on it.

Tannath: Question: isn't the Ultima 4 bundled in Ultima 4+5+6 the same game as Ultima 4: Quest of the Avatar?

mrkgnao: All I can say is that the Ultima 4 installer is ~27MB, while the Ultima 4+5+6 is ~21MB. Always made me wonder...
The game files themselves have ridiculously small sizes, most of the size comes from the installer itself and DOSBox. And since Ultima 4+5+6 only comes with one copy of DOSBox and not three, it makes sense (for me at least) that the sizes aren't that different.

I think people are just being resistant to change for the sake of being resistant to change - imagine if everything was reversed and everything had already been separate and now GOG was in the process of bundling things up - imagine the butt-hurt of people moaning that it was making them seem like they had less games on their shelves or that they'd manually arranged games according to whether they'd completed them or not and they'd finished, say, Tomb Raider 1 and not the other 2 - I think there would be more complains going in that direction, in that weird, parallel reality!
A very unnecessary change. Seems more confusing now than anything, especially since the game count fluctuated.

If they HAD to do this, why not just make each Episode/Game a download link under one title, the way that updates and DLC are listed?

My guess: Because it doesn't fit Galaxy's design.

A little bit, but mostly because every time GOG introduces a change something breaks. The benefits are minimal, in my opinion.
