There are so many things where GOG doesn't give a fuck, so I'm not giving GOG my money.
Just in case anyone missed it... Firek's reply

If only everybody else didn't give even less of a fuck... :-(

I'm not trying to excuse GOG here, only give some perspective! I don't give much money to anybody for a game these days (because I don't have much to spend), but at least when I do give GOG some money in a 75% off sale for a game, I know I can stash the installer somewhere and use it years later (in the worst case they messed up the installer for future operating systems and I have to use innoextract or similar on it, but there's no DRM creating an artificial barrier).
the galaxy client should offer an option to install selected games from pack; just like the normal installer;
all this mess would then be avoided

leonardrhine: Thats what i did a couple of months ago. And i'll do it again when they're finished

mrkgnao: What do you mean "when they're finished"? They stated that they're not going to fix anything in the library anymore.

See here: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/important_notice_unbundling_games/post1525.
This is going even worse than i anticipated.

More and more i dislike GOG.
Not the games mind you.
But first the new *improved* website....my starting point is now the forum for looking at new releases or offers.
And than this unbundling of games. First finding a game on my shelf gets harder. Second convenient downloads?
Most of those unbundled games are small...and now with each of them using the installer there is no saving time.
Just found the now 8 Heroes Chronicles each with around 450 MB compared to the old installer of 673 MB.....
Add to the confusion is that the bonus content for them (and many others) are the same....

It would be nice to see smaller packages for the big games.....and not 3GB+ large ones.
Why can't we simply have more management tools/features instead?

It would be a million times better to give the USERS (us) the tools to organize their own library the way they want instead of imagining what COULD be better for us.

I'm thinking of features like :
tags, custom categories, groups/folders, stacking, bundling and unbundling, name/purchase date/release date sorting, manual positions on the shelves, more shelves, more shelves colors/textures, hidden shelves, multiples shelves, etc.

Even if they implemented something like that, I'd never trust it to not lose or corrupt the configuration I spent time setting up.

If I ever have time, I'll probably just write a local client which implements all that by using lgogdownloader to dump the data. (Sort of similar to how I wrote and maintain the userscript for importing private-only profiles like GOG's into IsThereAnyDeal.com's cross-site collection and waitlist managers.)
Currently, I'm evaluating LaunchBox which has exactly that. Though this (universal) game launcher is really pretty, it misses a bit the point for a replacement, because it only cares for installed games and has no support for shop-provided game libraries and not installed games.

Looking at the Launchbox, it is tempting to write something simliar, first focus on managing the GOG library itself, then the other ones (steam, desura, shinyloot, gamersgate, humblebundle come to mind).

I got creative with Launchbox. I sort my games by Favorite (installed) to keep track of my installed games. And you can use hyperlinks in the Additional Files section for installers (Steam). So I link my backed up installers for GoG, and the Steam ID for my Steam games, and I put links in for my other games. It has been a bear to set up with an existing library, but it is simple to add new games. Not that I'm trying to steer you to this specifically, if it's not what you want, then it's not. But it does technically have the ability to do what you want, albeit not automatically.

mrkgnao: Today is Sunday, April 12, 2015.

The full unbundling has begun 27 days ago and has apparently not ended yet, leaving the library in a half-broken state (no update notifications, no links to game pages/forums for unbundled games, broken file links, even more product_bonuses, etc.).

A blue has not posted in this thread in the last 25 days (post #631, i.e. 830 posts ago).

GOG, to assist you:
- Here is the list of most of the issues raised in this thread. A few more issues have been raised after I had posted that list, but given your overwhelming response, I did not collect them. I will gladly do so if you want me to.
- Here is the list of those you have already fixed, AFAIK.
- And in case you are not reading this thread (it might not be your "favourite topic", after all), I also left you a message here.
First off, I'm terribly sorry for not being more active in this thread - since it's a technical matter, I assumed that the guys dealing with unbundling directly would be dealing with feedback, and they thought I'd be passing their actions on to you guys. It's been quite the misunderstanding, and I apologise - I'll be dropping in way more often now :)

Thank you hugely for the list of issues - I've passed it on as a fuller reference to the Product team, who are dealing with the unbundling most directly now. They've told me most of the issues are ones they know about and that are on their more or less immediate to-do lists.

The reason not everything may get fixed right off the bat is that they also deal with setting everything up with games we're releasing - so they have to divide their responsibilities. But they'll do their best to bring everyone's shelves to order as soon as possible.

I'll be back with more feedback as soon as I get news of issues getting resolved - or if many more questions appear. :)

Hi Ciris,

please tell the product team to fix the issue with the gap in the shelf that appeared since The Witcher Adventure Game Online Beta was removed.

Thanks in advance.

OMG! Ciris has replied!!!
Ok, now I'll read the comment, after the shock O_o

Oh, and Ciris, since you're still online....

Tell the product team to consider fixing these issues with our current account system now, rather than keep us waiting for the new one. If we're paying money to have these games, we'd at least like to have them work correctly, and if there are bugs, they should be fixed ASAP.

My 2 cents. ;)

(saying this because of Firek's response stating that they will be rolling out a new account system to fix these issues, rather than fix them with our current one)
