You give them money, they add the game to your account. You go to your library, download, and install. If you want a client that will just install directly, you can use Galaxy. If you want to back up your games, you can download the installers and save them somewhere. If you want to share it with your friends, you can. But please don't. This is illegal and wrong.

WELCOME TO GOG!!! :D
You just download the installers via browser, GoG Downloader or Galaxy, install the games and play. No online connection needed to play.

Very buggedly.

Jokes aside, you don't get any physical games, this is a digital game store whereby you buy the game and download the installer to your computer.
There are some free games available on GOG.
You can add them to your library for free and check how it works yourself.

That is correct.
Galaxy is an optional client you can use to download your games, play your games, access the store, and access things for some games such as an overlay and achievements. It has a bunch of different functionalities, although it's still in beta and some people argue it's gimped compared to similar clients like Steam.

You can login to GOG anywhere in the world, and download whatever you have in the account.

Many people like me download offline installers and backup them.

In addition to what zeogold said, you could (potentially) download the installers from your work computer, put them on a flash drive, take them home and install the game on your home computer. But do check with your workplace's policy on downloading and copying files before hand.
The home computer doesn't need any internet connection for the installation to happen either.

Yup. You just have to log into your GOG account to download the games. You can save the files to a thumb drive, or to your hard drive on any computer you can get to gog.com on. Then you install it anywhere you like.

Galaxy is GOGs client (similar to Steam, but not required and not as fully featured). You can install and play games directly through the client (still no DRM. Log-in is not required to play the games, nor is the client required). You can install and update through Galaxy and play through an executable or shortcut on your desktop. It's all up to you. If you have any questions, most of us try to be helpful. :D Even TinyE.
Some games are not compatible with Windows 10 yet.
So check the system requirement before you buy anything.

KengLee0688: im new, how does GOG work?
Believe me, we've been pondering that particular question for a good nine years now.
1. GOG' Games are DRM-Free. You really own them. You can play them anytime or anywhere. Like, the way you can bring a book wherever you go. You don't have to phone the bookstore for permission to open the book. GOG's games are the same. No internet authentication or checks needed before the game will let you play.

2. Games are sold only in digital format. No CD or physical disc. Just buy a game. After you buy it, the game will appear in your library.

3. Click on the game. You will see the game for download on the left, and other extras like the manual, wallpapers, artbooks, soundtrack..etc on the right. (The game downloads are installers.)

4. Click on the "more" button for other options. You can custom tag your games for easier sorting.

5. You can install the Galaxy client (which functions similarly to other game clients like steam or origin), and manage, install or run your games for there. If you install Galaxy, you can choose to have Galaxy directly install the game for you (no installer), or separately download the full installers and manually install the game yourself (these are all under the extra/options tab for the game). You can adjust whether the client automatically updates the game for you or disable auto-updates completely.
