Lilly Looking Through was the result of my taking a chance on the $3.00 game, a three star rated game, which all the reviews call unfinished and disappointing. Need I say more?
high rated
The house always wins.

In case that is of any comfort to you, I didn't personally think it was that bad. Lilly was kinda cute and the puzzles weren't bad or anything either -plus the overall graphics were also pretty nice. The ending was sure made anticipating a sequel, but well, this game has a really simplistic story in the 1st place really...
P.S. In case you wonder what the ending is, well, Lilly finds her brother but then they both end up someplace else. Not much of a plot but you'll pass a nice 2-hour sitting...

edit2-but I do get your point as last time both pinatas I got I already owned the games, so I'm not trying my luck this time around...

That's what many people say about one of my favourite games on GoG too! ;)

I got it also. However I decided to try two games and got Gray Matter, which looks interesting. I'll get around to playing it soon.

Point taken. I can't truly judge, not having played it. I would just have expected them to play it a bit safer with their selections for such a sale. I suppose since I have a fair amount of the catalog, the odds are less in my favor.
I'm going to try and resist this time, I haven't played half of the games in my GOG library
mine is still stuck on 'mystery game' ... no emails w/codes, and no automagical additions to my library...

I wonder if checkout is still borked for me as well...
I will never take part in any of those gambling sales. I find the very idea ridiculous and annoying. It's a store, not a casino, and the squirrel ain't no dabo girl.

They have addressed that matter at least
according to another post which I don't have the link handy for it's either:
fixed or in the process of being fixed and should corrected 'tomorrowish'...

Well, I had bought these 2 as gifts, so it was my fault really, but I just don't feel safe enough to buy a mystery game for myself and ending up with something I'm not interested in or I own someplace other than gog (e.g. humble or retail...). Guess the others that do buy this stuff for themselves can now stop worrying that they'll get something they own on gog at least...

That's what I'm told too.
Temple of Elemental Evil FTW!

I must say, I don't understand the mystery gift thing. It's perhaps an impulse buy? I'm not ever going to give someone my money without having any idea of what I'm getting.

P.S. if someone sends me $5 via paypal, I'll send you something back!

is there a thread that people write all the games from that RNG-styled gamble?

Just to see what games are being given through that

For me, I used to buy a lot of games but I'm already covered for the most part. Except for a few new releases, there's not much to buy. So, I buy a couple mystery games instead and see what pops up. I had no real intention to buy Gurumin, but now that I got it, I think I will give it a try. I originally got Aquaria in a similar fashion, and it was incredibly amazing, so trying things I wouldn't normally is (sometimes) worth it
