I only know Chuchel of those titles, and it was so unimpressive, expecially compared to the previous Amanita titles.
Maybe the 2017 indie competition wasn't too great..

The definition of indie games has become such a blur. What constitutes a potential nominee for IGF at this point? Being self published?

Seumas McNally Grand Prize ($30,000)
Night in the Woods (Infinite Fall)
Well deserved in my eyes, Night in the Woods was my favourite game of 2017!

Wait, wasn't the IGF involved in some racketeering scandal a couple of years ago, adding fuel to some huge frenzied media shitstorm. I can't remember the name of that for the life of me... sounded something like Gatorade.
And even if those allegations are false (can't bother to google that right now), none of the nominees/winners are Darkwood. No further proof that the IGF judges have shit taste/take bribes/are a bunch of cronies/all of the above needed.

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic, or how much, but in any case: Have you played the game? Or at least seen it played by someone who respects the game? I thought the game was the sort dumb nonsense that's made for screaming idiots to play on Youtube, like Goat Simulator.
Then actually playing it, without someone talking over the narration the entire time, I saw that the narration starts by teasing the player for its failures, but it gets more personal as you climb further and further. He starts to talk about the concept of B-games, then about his ideas on failure which shaped the game, and ends with something slightly "The Beginner's Guide" like. He even writes the credits by hand, which I just absolutely loved XD. Just saying, there's value to the game, and if you only know it offhand through memes and stuff, it can be easy to miss it.
As for the winners, all deserved, I'm sure. Getting Over It is a weird little B-game with heart, Celeste is a damn good platformer, and the perfect answer to anyone who calls these indie games "simple", and Night in the Woods is full of compelling characters. Chuchel I haven't played, but just by looking at it I can see the how they won their Excellence in Visual Art award.

No, I'm not. The game might be good, but giving a fucking NUOVO award for reusing someone else's mechanic that's old enough to drive is fucked up.

edit: Nevermind.
Between not being able to actually buy anything here and lovely folks like this, I think I'm done here.
