1) I created the thread for immediate community exposure which leads to...
2) The growing number of responses in a seemingly short time period would hopefully garner discussion.
3) Someone who bothers to spend the time to contact support after seeing said thread would let us all know.
4) Staff are pointed to said thread with growing responses without being inundated with individual support tickets.
5) Community has a clear idea when the problem started by seeing the date of the thread, and can continue to bump the thread.
6) What is wrong with discussion between community members over a shared issue?

I'm fairly sure this thread wasn't aimed at you, but rather was a sarcastic dig at the stream of people who instead of posting in your thread, insist on creating new threads about the matter.
