Hopefully someone will make it-

Seeing I'm not good in math I had an idea. What if there was a program that you installed and it "took over" your desktop. After a certain amount of time it would pop up and ask you a simple math question which you must answer to continue using your computer. Obviously when you set it up, you can customize it with the intervals of interruptions and password protected settings so no one other then yourself and change or turn it off.

- This would be targeted towards mainly children.
- Simple math like multiplication tables, very simple division, addition, and subtraction.
- Settings that can be locked only by you to prevent the kids from turning it off.
What? Why? What?

Randalator: What? Why? What?
Well seeing the new generation are using computers at a very early age for a long sessions. Some might have problems with math in the future and in order to enforce/force them to learn I think this would be a good tool for parents. What I purpose and in combination with family settings (allotting time), it shouldn't be a problem for the rest of the family once their time is done.
Oh man I think that would drive anyone crazy after a while XD How about learning some basic programming, and writing a small thing yourself that asks you a bunch of random multiplication problems, factorization problems or whatever, and assigns/logs a score of some kind. Even html+javascript can be used and there are great tutorials online for both. That's if you like that kind of thing though. I'm sure there are tons of educational math apps and programs already available.
I have a better idea. A big guy shows up and occasionally asks you questions. And he'll break your face if you answer wrong. This will be aimed primarily towards children. It's for their own good, you see. Because this is the only way.

Just install linux on the kids computer.

He'll be alright one day.
If your children are struggling with maths this is not the way to help them. Get the a maths drill book and have them work on that for a half hour a day and then sit down and go through the answers with them. Random questions on a computer that lock it up is only going to annoy and further discourage someone who is struggling. Only instead of just turning them away from maths, you'll also turn them away from using PCs.

In other words, parenting through the use of a system like this is not going to be a good alternative to actually sitting down with your child and helping them.
No no no no no! For the love of Venus, NO! Don't lock my bimbo schoolgirls out of pc or android with crap locks like that!?

Everyone has an idea for others to make. It's easy to come up with them, difficult to make them happen. These ideas are never worth pursuing. You need to start blueprinting it and make it happen yourself. Show everyone why it's good and worth the time.
I agree with MaximumBunny. Skills may not be required to ask for help, but one should present his/her idea with basically all the details, a plan on how to make it and the results that are aimed at achieving.
I hate children.
I say get a cheap android tablet and a Sphero. It's a good way to learn math, teach programming skills and play all at the same time.

The device itself uses Bluetooth and you can get a Bluetooth adapter for the PC, the development environment is a graphical Web-based programming language (which can generated code in 3 different languages), so I wouldn't be surprised if someone could also program it from a PC.

I get this suspicion that children hate adults too.
Imagine playing a match of Quake 3 and suddenly BAM "What's 34 x 13?".
Brilliant.
