Emob78: 11 years? Holy Toledo. And I thought I took too long spending 4 months to write a screenplay.
I always like Hunter S Thompson's style of writing. Months of notes and scribbled nonsense followed by one long night of writing fueled by whiskey and cocaine. Presto! Award winning novel.
It didn't straight up take 11 years to write. I first tried to write the story 11 years ago and dropped it after a year and about 70k words written because I got sidetracked. Then I grabbed a few project over the last few years but they didn't quite work and I ended up coming back to this (for a full rewrite) in March. I started properly writing in late May, making it about 4 months. I always like Hunter S Thompson's style of writing. Months of notes and scribbled nonsense followed by one long night of writing fueled by whiskey and cocaine. Presto! Award winning novel.
The end result is about 121,000 words, so 300-400 pages. Although this will no doubt vary as we edit it.
