lepke1979: Maybe I'm too old, but never understood why Steam trading cards are so popular.

zeogold: I'm younger than 90% of you here and I don't get it either.
Maybe it's the acceptance of fake merchandise.

I remember WotC putting an online Magic The Gathering up, and you had to pay full physical price for virtual cards to play on their service...

Then there's micro transactions, paying $200 for a fake car on Forsa 5... I just don't get it.

Neither do I, I can't even be bothered to sell them. >_<
I like the Steam backgrounds that you can get, but you can only use them for your Steam profile background so it's useless.

You can also save them to your HDD and use them as wallpaper. ;)

You can? O_o
I guess I'll try to do so.

My gosh. I could buy a REAL car for that price.
...Not legally, mind you, but I could do it.

Sell?
Hold up: You mean people actually spend money on this crap? Like, real dollars?

Sure, just click on a background in your profile and click on the "in original size" tab below it. That displays the background in your browser and you can right click on it and save it.

Here's one of mine:

Ah, thank you. :)

Yes, you can! Just right-click and choose to "view the original image" (might depend on your browser, you can use Firefox), and you can have the full size that is viewable. Just Download (right-click, save) and you are done. Better yet, it's free (I tried it on the market, viewing the images), unlike using it on your steam profile.
I have a better idea. For every 100 game on GOG that we own, GOG would send us a GOGbeer ;)

Well don't worry, they're not sellable, these GOG trading cards, you can only trade them!

Gog Bear Beer. Or Root beer for those of us in stupid restrictive countries.

Breja: I know. But I took it you asked the question seriously. And it's a question that keeps coming back from time to time. Together with gimmicky sales and threads about ideas for gimmicky sales, and achievements and so on and so on... I guess I just needed to vent.
avatar
Darvond: Even though this gimmick wouldn't have any affect on the actual sale, but instead be a mere bonus for buying?
avatar
TStael: Depends on your bod, maybe - meaning, u go first?

;-)

Darvond: How do you feel about flab? :b
As about steroid muscles - too much is not what nature ideally intended. Yet charm, intellect and humour can compensate - only expect saving throw at malus, on average, I'd have to assume.

I meanwhile more significantly implied that gog.com does not need to copy any card system.

Not even satirically?

Satirically on which angle, exactly? I am no longer sure.

Most of them. The trading aspect, the card aspect, the collecting aspect. The entire idea is a farce.

Except for the nudity. That part of the concept is dead serious. And awesome.
