Sad to see you go, but like everybody else, I also can relate to your reasoning. The best of luck to you!
And GOG: how about open sourcing some of your stuff? I bet the community would love to help out with some of the aching parts of the site / galaxy / whatever. It's not like you make money off of Galaxy or the site itself. We can't really use the source to compete with you. It's not like the GOG forums are so much more awesome than steam's that you'd need to worry about them...

Sorry for showing up late to the farewell party. The sad fact is that I don't scan the threads list anymore and just post in front page announcements. The changes in the community demographics have made this a place I am no longer happy to pass idle time in, and it's made even worse by another valued member departing.
Your reasons for leaving are quite understandable, and hopefully you will find that you are enjoying your time more with whatever you move on to. And perhaps you too won't make a complete break of it, but find yourself dropping in when the mood strikes.
Whatever the case, may you be happier in the wake of this change.

Bummer. Sorry to see you go.
I wonder, was the results of this poll at all a factor in your decision?

And on that note, GOG sure made sure to prove the decision even more justified today, didn't they?

What would you have GOG do when a country demands they restrict the sale of certain games? Defy them? Take the games down for everyone?

Past that, yes, remove it. At least would make everyone care and try to pressure for a change, since everyone would be affected. That was the point of GOG until a few years ago, right? Change the rules...
I'll refer to that conference again:
"No compromise.
Yeah. Just two logos [Capcom / Take Two] and just a disclaimer: We love these guys, we talk to them, but we couldn't have their catalog. Although our users, the gamers, really wanted to have their catalog, really wanted to download the games, because of their policies we couldn't make our one-world-one-price and we couldn't make a deal without regional restrictions, we'd have to cut out the countries, so we actually decided to give up on them."

Beyond having a German storefront, could changing EU commerce rules and regulations also be to blame for GOG having to restrict sales of games?
