I have been a gamer for 35+ years.
I have bought 100's of games.
I have played 100's of games.
Gaming is my life.

I have seen and experienced all of what this medium has to offer.
From the small 3 man 8-bit studios, to the large multimillion corporations.
I have had tremendous highs and depressing lows.
Praised the passion of developers who have love for their craft, and scorned those who don't.
Overcome with respect for a single developer who can create perfection, ashamed at a team of 100 who don't even get close.

I KNOW MY SHIT!

There are many things right with this industry, many that aren't.

But....

This.... THIS company, this company right here is something that's right.

You have my utmost respect.

TL;DR - I LOVE GOG!

Hehe, LOL...

There's certainly a lot to complain about, but it's also nice to read a love letter like the OP's.
Let's just enjoy the positivity of the OP, for a moment ; )
Now there's a pretty meme! Exquisite!
I LIKE IKE!

Sure it is, and I confess that I felt the same way myself... in 2009 ;-)

But sure, as much as there is to complain about around here (and there is plenty), it's still nice to take a breather every once in a while, and think about the alternatives.

Oh, just because that was "the good old days", before GOG started acting in increasingly stupid ways as a matter of course. I believe the fake site closure happened some time in 2010, which seems to have been the first act of the SuperVillain school of marketing which still controls GOG's marketing department to this day.
Enjoy the free karma.

Do not blame the wrong people.

Companies follow money, we should be thankful they do not added DRM and invasive software yet. After all it works perfectly for Apple or Valve.

Companies are not stupid, customers are. And the reality will proves this every day until Apple, Microsoft, Valve, Autodesk, Facebook and many other will change strategies for a lack of customers. So.. never.
