Crosmando: @HereForTheBeer
It's all well and good to want everyone to have a job, but history and present have proven that the private sector cannot take care of all of society. Otherwise there wouldn't be unemployment, homelessness and poverty would not exist. The US also has a minimum wage of 7.25 USD an hour, which is not enough to live on - even at very low standards of living.

Emob78: I got news for ya, the public sector can't either. If people can't survive on 7 bucks an hour, then it's incumbent on them to work harder to strive for a better life.

These comments are just hilarious. A bunch of socialist wienies proclaiming the joys of collectivism on a private forum owned by a publicly traded corporation doing huge business making money on distributing entertainment software. Good times. Without capitalism, we're not having this conversation.
So because the forum is owned by a corporation, we shouldn't post here even though we like the community and DRM free games? LOL Yeah, if someone can't survive on 7 bucks an hour, he or she should just work 4 jobs until he or she gets burnt out and goes insane(and that is if other employers are willing to hire someone who already has a job and is willing to work with their schedule). I got news for ya. Most people are not Superman and most employers aren't willing to deal with people's(the ones with superhuman fortitude) schedules. :)

Sincerely,
Socialist Wienie Monkey

monkeydelarge: Just because you are paying more taxes than you would like to be paying while people who have a lot more than you are paying less doesn't mean Crosmando is over generalizing.
Correct. The over-generalizing comes from taking the words of those to whom he has been exposed (the ones who make it into media), and applying it to "the US right-wing". There are a lot of different people, backgrounds, and viewpoints that one might consider to be on the 'right', and it is a disservice to look at those who get the exposure and lump 100 million or so ordinary people in with them. People of any persuasion are more varied and complex than that, thank goodness.

How can someone work any "harder" when they are working 8 hours a day? Can they magically create more hours in the day? Give up sleeping? You sound to me like a very hateful person if you don't care for your fellow countrymen.

Not to brag but the minimum wage here in Australia is $17.29 an hour or $656.90 a week, and both our unemployment and inflation rates are very low.

Please inform us when you've become a civilized country America.
Can someone explain to me why all those people fond of capitalism immediately start to be aggressive as shit when someone questions capitalism?

He means, they should give up their sleep, relationships and sanity. Why do I think, Emob78 was a Roman slave master in a past life and all his slaves revolted against him like in the story of Spartacus.

Can we please get back to how an unknown cataclysm is coming that will disappear our oceans and leave both our soil and atmosphere bereft of moisture?

I'm a little more concerned about that part.

Because $$$ is their god or goddess and the only thing that matters to them other than their friends and family. We insulted their god or goddess.

Emob78 would make an excellent Sith Lord. :) America will never become a civilized country because half the population have no interest in such a thing. The brainwashing has been done to them, generation after generation. It is too deep. I mean, this is a country where half the population whines about really poor people getting food stamps so they don't starve to death. There is no hope, I think.

Because it's the ruling system. "To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize."

Rich irony, considering you started this thread with a sarcastic (which is a form of aggressiveness) tone to point out some comments that you question. Given that lead-in, what exactly were you expecting?

And they have been brainwashed into thinking, one day, they will be rich or upper middle class... And brainwashed to think anything other than the current capitalist system means a North Korean kind of life. Instead of a Norwegian, Danish, Finnish or Swedish kind of life. And I'm talking about the poor people who are fond of capitalism. Of course, people who are well off are going to start being aggressive when someone questions capitalism because they are enjoying the current system and are too selfish to think of all the people who are suffering and dying. So in their eyes, they see you as a threat to their luxurious lifestyle. And naturally, they will respond aggressively. You are also pointing out their sins and most people don't like that because they find it more pleasurable to see themselves as good people. The truth can make some people very uncomfortable.

Yeah but it was against Rush Limbaugh and not any GOG members.

Two sides of the same coin.

As long as there will be no major shift in our economical system like in the past 40 years, there will be no serious effort to avoid the cliff we are heading for. But hey, at least we can exchange the conducteur every 4 years that tells us:"We have no other choice! Increase speed."

Downgraded from capitalist pig to Dark Lord of the Sith... hmmm... or is that an upgrade? Do I get a red lightsaber and lightning bolt hands?

For all you guys who don't believe in private property, wealth accumulation, or capitalist gain, then I offer a suggestion. Since I currently lack lots of games here on GOG, I require economic equilibrium to support my working class wage. Therefore for every 3 games you purchase here, I demand that you gift me 1 of them. Put your money (games) where you mouths are. Want to share with the greater collective? Start gifting lots of games with your hard earned money. Otherwise I will call you a greedy hoarder and report you to the block captains.

I never called anyone a "capitalist pig" in this thread. You did call me a "socialist wienie" though so I felt no need to hold myself back afterwards. Your suggestion has nothing to do with socialism because you are not extremely poor or are you? And you are saying, food, shelter and health care has the same value as video games. FAIL Never heard of anyone freezing to death during the winter from not having a massive collection of video games. Last time I checked, you can't eat GOGs or light them on fire to keep you warm or use GOGs to cure horrible afflictions or use GOGs to build shelter. I'm not saying entertainment is not important though. People do need video games. Just not as much as food, shelter and health care. And nobody needs a massive collection of video games.
