I've been largely gone from the forum for many months. It appears that the rep system has been removed.

What a welcome change! For instance, in my case, some people started brigading me, because they took issue with some things I had posted, and apparently that was enough of a reason to abuse the downvote button and bully me. It was a group of exactly 5 people using multiple accounts.

As an example, some people got mad when I said I don't really care about the piggyback interactive map for Cyberpunk being always online DRM. Who cares, it's not a game. This caused someone I had considered a nice person to block me and to start bullying me.

I just wanted to say I am glad GOG has done something wise. The rep system was absolute garbage and easily abused. What a breath of fresh air!
Yes, it was an outdated and old system that was easily abused and I'm glad they finally removed it.
AFAIK it hasn't been "removed" but rather it's just been hidden.

It definitely should be and needs to be entirely removed, though, which it seems is something that GOG still needs to and must do.

It was something they tried to do because it seemed like a good idea at the time, but they immediately understood that it was a huge mistake. They just couldn't, for technical reasons, remove it for an eternity or two.

It was daylight saving time all over again.

I think GOG is slowly moving away from the forums, at least on GOG. They tend to enjoy the forums better on their own dedicated ones via their site.
There's still some peeps crying about how powerless they are now. lol

What other forum is there? I thought this was their main site.

It was a good idea at the time.

It was okay for a small scale community of decent people. It only failed when trolls reached a critical mass and turned it around.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Now they need to do the same on the review pages!

I have about 70 reviews and almost all have 10% posreps vs 90% negreps, or worse. That's because I speak my mind on those reviews, and say things "fanbois" and "shills" do not like. It's not just me, most 1 and 2 star reviews are onslaughted with negreps. I remember once seeing a game (I think it was called "The Universe" or "Everything" or something along those lines - basically it wasn't even a "game", more of an "executive toy" type thing) with two reviews on the very day of it's release, one was obviously from the devs, which was 5-stars and had "42 out of 42 found this helpful". Yep! 42! In ONE day! But there was also one critical 2-star review, that had "0 out of 42 found this helpful". Lo and behold! 42 again! I wonder whom those "42" were eh? It's ABUSED, by shills, fanbois and developers.
Then again most of my positive 4 and 5 star reviews are dominated by negreps...... so those same fanbois, shills etc must have me firmly on their radars and just negrep every review I do regardless. Yes, it's enough to get you that paranoid!

I should have 90+, maybe 100+ reviews, as about 20 have been completely removed! Presumably due to said "shills, fanbois and developers" actually using the "report" button as a censorship method to get critical reviews removed! CD Projeckt Red stuff is the worst for that! So we're screwed basically.

Yet I've seen 5 star reviews that just say "gud" but have "2000 out of 2000 found this helpful"! It's enough to make you scream! Still, it ain't as bad as over on Steam yet!

But, seeing as GOG have not altered so much as one bit of coding for their review pages since 2005 it's not very likely going to happen this side of 2100.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmno. I rest my case on the daylight saving time comparison. ;)

Well, you should see some of my positive reviews slaughtered by toxic funkheads. ;) ;)

Seriously though, you should of course be able to speak your mind on games, at least when you're being truthful, and when you've actually bought the game of course. I'm pretty sure if GOG just removed the ability to "grade" other people's reviews, and to write reviews without having the game in your account, we'd see much more positively rated games, and you might actually supply an alternate, knowledgeable perspective on GOG that would help people decide whether they'd take your view playing the game, or would simply find themselves sitting on other campfires.

At the time, just like with the downvotes, it's an imbalance towards negativity, and you might find that disturbing as well as in an ocean of bile, especially the civil and factual negative view is of course also drowning immediately. It has long since become a contest about who can write the most shocking, insulting, and hyperbolic nonsense without getting their reviews deleted by GOG mods.

let them cry. I am glad its gone too, despite having a high rep, I found myself censoring myself to avoid getting a negative rep.

Yep, I'm glad it's gone, even if it is only hidden. It was way out of hand and not as it was intended to be. You'd get downvoted by all the bots for liking a game someone didn't like, for not liking a game someone liked, winning a giveaway, and many other stupid reasons. There was no point to it anymore.
I would have liked to see a system where rep applied to posts, not to people, but that wouldn't be perfect either. Not having one at all is fine by me.

Hi Geralt

with the loss of the rep system we also gained additions to official gog moderation staff, something I am grateful for.

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/forum_regulations/post1

This will make it far easier to get direct moderation on troll posters, especially those with a known history.
