I don't know you from a bar of soap, and yet you send me a youtube link that has some religious aspect, perhaps even something humorous.

I'm not in the habit of watching youtube clips sent to me by a stranger, and I'm not much into watching youtube clips in any case. Personally I class much of it as spam.

I politely say, sorry I'm not interested, then you say a few things, make some assumptions, then prevent me from replying to you.

Clearly you were offended by the fact I did not think it was as important to watch as you did.

Timboli: Personally I don't think it is the greatest story ever told, far from it. The Lord Of The Rings trilogy for instance, leaves it for dead. But in the context of how the bible has impacted the world and many lives, and how many people who barely read or have never read anything else, it has had the impact of the greatest story ever told.
So, basically, you think it's not the greatest story ever told but the most influential story ever told?

While I'm not sure about 'the greatest story' I do agree with Tmboli, that the Bible is mostly a good read. There are boring parts, but there are lots of interesting stories in it. And if course it is one of the historically most important books due to its impact.

Actually I have read all major religious works, out of interest. I don't believe any of it, but it is very interesting and offers insights in the different cultures. But as much as I like the Bible, I still think that the Edda is more entertaining.

Edda, Kalevala, Gilgamesh, Popol Vuh, The Iliad and Odyssey - I'd say they all far surpass the Bible (or most of it) in terms of literary and storytelling merits.

Oh yes, Kalevala and Gilgamesh are great too! Homers works too, but I wouldn't rate them as religious works. Though I have to admit that the difference between religious myths and heroic legends is fluid.

As bizarre as a 40th century archeologist calling "Blade" a religious work praising the day-walker for his role as a holy warrior :P. There's holy water, crosses and sliver in it after all, which implies the existence of a higher power, right?

I guess I see where you're coming from, but I still think it's a bit of a stretch :D But then I don't really think of Gilgamesh as an "adventure story". It's very poetic, beautiful and slightly melancholic. If we were to keep to your "cinematic" analogy I'd say it's much more Blade Runner than a Marvel movie, but then at this point we probably start to sound like those two guys at a party who sit in the kitchen high as kites having the dumbest philosophical discussions :D

I wouldn't even class it as messaging, unless that's how you choose to see it. I can skip or ignore those bits ... especially if someone else has already gone to the trouble to do that for me (i.e Life Of Brian).

Despite all the religious mumbo jumbo, there is actually a reasonable story in there ... Fantastical if you like.

Well, greatest doesn't necessarily mean best. Greatest can be size of impact ... greatest reaching etc ... greatest influence.

Anyway, I wasn't the person or persons who coined the term 'Greatest Story Ever Told' in relation to the Bible. I kind of just used it to illustrate it is much more than just a religious document ... there is a real story in there ... if not actually real in a holistic sense.

So whether I would be interested in the demo or not depends on whether it is just a story, which could be good, or whether it is being used to further propagate religious belief, which would be bad in my view ... I don't want preaching at, which I will go out of my way to avoid.

Indeed. We are talking about the history of mankind right there.

If you want to understand humanity, then religious belief and related is one big entry point.

I'd go even further and relate it to the capabilities etc of the human mind.
