adambiser: Does the site allow us to gift Steam keys from "Humble Weekly Sale: Nordic Games"? I have no need for the Neighbours From Hell Compilation key because I have the game on GOG already, but I don't see the clickable little gift button to the right of the "Click the button to redeem on Steam" line. Do they only allow you to gift a game if you already own it on Steam?

Psyringe: As far as I remember, Neighbours From Hell simply didn't come with a Steam key in this bundle. Though it could have been added later, I think the game got added to Steam recently? (Not sure if I remember correctly though.)
It was added later.
Question about Humble's new part bundle gifting system. Does it just work for Steam keys or can I gift away the DRM-free downloader too? A lot of games in the current weekly I already have on GOG and would love to be able to gift away the download with the Steam key (I have no need for the game on my Humble account when I have it on my GOG account already).

AFAIK you can gift only Steam keys.

Guh... considering it sends the Steam key as a sort of gift page thing you'd think they'd have the sense to make the DRM-free download go with it? Now they're actually condoning licence splitting.

Haha, I just realised this has massively backfired on Amok.

Well they could always give up on DRM-free games and just use steam keys from now on. Would it be better?

I think they are more and more doing exactly that, nowadays quite often skipping offering the DRM-free version, even though there already is such available.

I presume they will go the same way as GreenManGaming and GamersGate, ie. phasing out their own store/file servers, and start selling only Steam keys, like so many other stores. Their main selling point will be that they sell Steam keys cheaper than anyone else, especially for the little older AAA titles like in the current WB bundle.

yeah, I know.

There is something wrong now, I am putting it down to teething problems, but Humble must make a better system to make it work properly. I would like to see the DRM free game disappear when gifted also.

Nope, but that's mostly what they're doing already anyway.

Although we disagreed on some things, I was always against licence splitting so this is pretty bad. Or okay I guess, depending on how the devs feel about it. If this is official HB policy, I guess it means when there's a DRM-free version and a Steam key you really are getting two licences in the bundle.

Still, even if everyone concerned is fine about this there are some games that I'd like to be able to give the DRM-free version away. It could be teething problems as you suggest, I think they implemented the sharing thing very hastily after the backlash to the new 'key' redeeming thing.

Yes, right now the system seems very half-heartily and hastily implemented. If this is going to be the way forward, then they do need to make it more like a 'license gift' than s 'steam gift'. This means that the gift should remove all possible keys from the gifter, as well as the DRM free version. Which then also means that you can give away the DRM free version of a game you do not want or have.

As said before, a steam key is not the same as a game license, but an allowance to use a service. So Humble is in fact breaching some regulations now by allowing duplication. I am a bit disappointed, to be honest.

Ghostfromthepast: Finally! A DRM free decent bundle. There might be hope for humble bundle yet. :)
They only added DRM free versions some hours after the bundle´s launch. They started selling very bad and adventure gamers was complaining about the lack of DRM free versions (I believe that niche is filled with ppl familiarized with DRM free). You should don´t light your hopes.

Looking at everything, thats the way i feel HB are going. Cust price Steamkey reseller and delivery platform like Steam touts itself to be. Maybe GOG should be a piece of the delivery platform action?.

Now that you mentioned it - the pic in the Newsletter has only the Steam symbol above the Daedalic games and no mention of DRM-free. That would also explain why EFF is not among the charities.
And a quick online search reveals that all initial news articles speak only of getting the games on Steam and the requirement of paying a minimum of $1 to do so.

Any links to these complaints?
Hmm.

I'm glad I haven't bought any PopCap games.. there's not much I want from that list though. I'm probably in for a dollar.
Edit: nevermind
