Hello!

Official site: https://humankind.game/
Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1124300/HUMANKIND/

Disclaimer: I looked for threads related to this subject, and couldn't find any. Apologies if I missed one.

I just discovered this game. It looks like a clone of Civilization, but from what I've seen it's at the very minimum competent. The landscape is detailed and gorgeous. Although it's not quite perfect yet. One screenshot shows a building on a cliff, and only half the building is on solid ground. Another screenshot shows an impossible farm growing on the slanted side of a mountain. There's also a screenshot of a mesoamerican civ with trebuchets and steel clad knights. Another issue this game currently shares with the Civ series. The release is set for April 22 2021, on Steam, Stadia, and Epic. I'm wondering if this game will be able to fight the Civ series. Like if this proves to be better, if people would stick with Sid Meier's games just for the brand name. I remember seeing that with other games, including table top RPGs.

The game boasts 60 different civs. Vanilla Civ VI has only 18. If you are currently eyeballing Civ VI, I'd say wait for this. It looks like it functions in the same way to Civ. You get resources each turn, build wonders, and so on. You start as ice age nomads and work your way to modern day. It's also a little more restrictive with how many cities you can build. You can play a...beta? Alpha? I'm not sure what stage this is in ATM. Anyway, you can play a version of it now on something called Lucy Opendev. I've never heard of this program before encountering this game. I think it's something that lets you give feedback directly to the devs. I can't find a summary of it, and google only shows results related to this game. You can only play the alpha/beta if you pre-order the game. Thoughts?
This trailer put me off the game:

I'll probably look in on it after a few years though.

Getting it here is tough, but not impossible. We got Panzer Dragoon, which was at one point a Sega Saturn exclusive. We also got The Deadly Tower of Monsters, which was published by Sega. I'm not sure what happened to my original reply. Apologies if it comes up twice.

I'm still interested in the game, but that ad was extra cringe. Thanks for the link!

Panzer Dragon remake wasn't published by Sega, same for Streets of Rage 4 and another old Sega published (not owned) IP.

None of those 3 games would have got a GoG release had Sega been the Publisher.

The only game listed with Sega is The Deadly Tower of Monsters, and that's because Sega bought the IP owning company post release.

Now last month Sega acknowledged the existence of GoG via a tweet. Also Alien:Isolation is getting an Epic free release. If it is DRM free, then maybe, just on the absolute outer ridge of hope, maybe we might see an actual Sega release here.

Game trailers that (almost) don't have any actual game play footage in them... this is what the world has come to.
That's an amazing 5 seconds of gameplay in the trailer..

Yeah, that puts me off too, but this has added wokeness as well.
Hows the AI and tech tree?

Oh wait publisher Sega. Dev Amplitude studios. We dont have Endless Space or Endless Legends here. Ah well. Wishful thinking...

A demo for Humankind has been made available: https://www.games2gether.com/amplitude-studios/humankind/blogs/791

Only on Steam, Epic and Microsoft store.
I heard good things about this game, so it would be nice if it appeared here.
