So Darkness Within: In Pursuit of Loath Nolder popped up on Steam recently (if anyone's been holding off getting it from Desura, ShinyLoot, GamersGate or retail, there's that now), "updated for more recent Operating Systems" and with "improved graphics" (and achievements, which btw. you don't want to look at if you're not familiar with the game).

More importantly, "developer Zoetrope Interactive is busy preparing a Director’s Cut Edition of the second instalment, Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage (PC, 2010) for its Steam release in a few weeks" with "new puzzles and environments".

And then there's this: "after years of a focus outside of making games, we’re feeling a strong pull to get back into game development. Who knows, maybe one day there might be a ‘Darkness Within 3’, depending on the reception these two classics are given by the Steam audience."

"Want a sequel, buy these again!" aside, I'm really glad they seem to be back in the (game-making) game.
There is a new kid in town:

currently in alpha and on 50% Off sale.
I got to try Sunless sea, and even though it´s not exactly based on HP Lovecraft, it is very similar and clearly inspired on it. You should check it out.

I actually found that certain interest in Lovecraft-like works and generally in discovering the unknown and enjoying horror is quite essential to playing Sunless Sea, otherwise it's just a game where you sail around sea very slowly and read a lot of text.
"Legacy : Realm of Terror" is *very* Lovecraft inspired. It's a pretty hard orthogonal RPG, even incorporating terror (your chracter will literally scream and run away uncontrollably from some enemies until you get spells of items that overcome this).

(Already mentioned, but I'm seconding the recommendation)

I hope that there someday will be a movie or game of "Dream-Quest of unknown Kadath". because it is an epic story!

Why someone else? Why not us? Let's do it!
I looked through the thread and did not see Bloodborne.
...If you have a PS4.
GOG still needs to get Eldritch!

That pretty much defines the game yes like an interactive book with touches of roleplay and strategy.
I found the text and ambient very absorbing, with the music and all.
I´d say it´s good for a laptop/in bed time... something like that xD
I've got a Steam key for Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land. It's apparently been abandoned by the devs. I have a Desura key for it, too.

I'd happily trade it for something appropriate in exchange. A half a ham sandwich, perhaps.

At least the concept of fighting "cosmic horrors" with a wood plank seems fun.
I'm not sure if someone already posted a link to this:

A point and click game based on the story "The terrible old man".
