So, I tried to upload 5 gb mp4 video. It failed, mostly because it took 12+ hours and I rage quitted that attemp.

But I would love to show people how I play certain new steam game. I want to show myself. It would be mostly + no commentary, no webcam playthough. Ads allowed, because youtube, but I'm aware there wuld be little profit.

Problem? Video upload lasted 12+ hours. So I need some advice on this mattter.
Get faster internet? Or do the upload from somewhere else. Public library, university computer pool or internet cafe. Or use a Youtube Uploader. These are theoretically tools like downloaders (split uploads, resume after connection loss etc.) I've never tested any, since I never needed to. But google shows several of those. Just search for Youtube Uploader.
You can split the video in sections, mirroring that game's division in areas.

You can use HandBrake to reduce considerably your video size, without affecting its quality too much: about a third using default 'Fast 1080p' preset in that program. I think very fast preset 'wash up' the image too much for my taste, but you can try it. Obviously it will reduce even more your video size.
You may have also tried at a bad time for YT. I'm finding it very slow now too, on and off, with thumbnails loading slowly or not at all, videos loading in fits and spurts...

Better internet or a smaller file. I'm in Eastern USA and upload 50-400 meg videos occasionally and can do it in about 30 min to 2 hours.

Definitely these. The first option suggests some editing involved but if this is something you plan on doing regularly then it comes with the territory and you'll get better at it over time.

Compression of the file, given the speed of the upload, is also crucial. If you have to, don't upload in a quality that's too close to the source capture. If you game and record at 1080/60fps then try compromising to 720/60fps. Obviously no one expects you to upload crud resolution videos (this isn't YouTube from a decade ago, thankfully) but at the same time, if the high res stuff is taking an unreasonable amount of time to upload (regardless of YouTube's traffic congestion) then try to find a balance that works.
