Hello everyone,

I've read various comments but their suggestions haven't helped my situation. I've tried gog galaxy, gog Beta and yet nothing works. I can't understand why gog hasn't made their products compatible to work with windows 10. I don't have any issues downloading the games, but opening them prompts an error. the warning label claims that the downloaded file is corrupt from gog and can't open.

If team gog, or other people have found a solution, please let me know

Download a checksum tool, and list all your downloaded-GOG-file-checksum here.
Thus we can make sure if you have downloaded all necessary files.

Did you contact the GOG support? You may want to have a refund.

Other than Heroes of Might and Magic 4, the other games should be compatible with Windows 10. Quite likely that you can also get Heroes 4 running under 10, but GOG won't provide support for them.

A claim that the file is corrupt means that the download is having an issue. A claim that the file may be unsafe could be the smartfilter at work, though I think GOG shouldn't have that problem, since they are using valid digital signatures. If you can download and install the games on your other computer, copy the files from the working computer to the Windows 10 one, and see if you can then run them. If you can, then something interferes with you downloading executable files. A virus and/or malware scan may be in order.
You can always use the community-made Heroes 3 HD patch if none of the methods work.
I can run HoMM3 on W10 without problems. Are you sure it is not a problem on your side?
I've run the Chronicles games on 10 as well.

Which is really the best way to play it, these days.

I just purchased this laptop, so maybe it requires some updates. Ive updated as much as i could. i'll try it again tonight.

updated....I am able to download and install Heroes 3 complete. I can use the map editor etc, but the game itself does not run. an error occurs, and despite windows searching for the solution, it evades both of us

Well, that's better. Does it say what the error is?

Also try running the game in "Compatibility mode". You can do this by left-clicking the shortcut and go to Properties. On the Compatibility tab, you get various options.

I didn't need any compatibility mode on my system, but I have "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" and "Run this program as administer" checked.

Try the various options from Windows 95 to XP to Vista and the various service packs. Good chance one of them will work.

So you have the install files. Ok, and they install fine. Make sure you install outside any of the Windows folders (i.e. Program Files) - always do this. Create c:\MyGames or something similar to hold anything you install. Run it from there and see. If it doesn't work then screenshot the error you get and post that.

Have you installed DirectX 9?

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Its needed for these older games and usually isn't preinstalled anymore.

Thanks for your help everyone. Sadly Directx9 doesn't work, and no other compatibility versions of this game seem to work from win 95 to XP :(
I just bought this lap top lol!

edit.... does any new gog users also have this issue?

What do you mean by "DirectX 9 doesn't work"?
Did you try running as Admin?

Did you try the HD mod linked above?
