I believe GNU/Linux gaming is the future of video games.

I like how GOG Galaxy auto-updates my games on Windows.

I also like the cloud saves, the overlay, chat system, screenshot management and even the achievements.

Is there a GNU/Linux version of the GOG Galaxy client ? or at least any work in progress or a plan ?

How can I keep my Linux games up to date ? do I have to uninstall and install manually or should I install get the new installer and install each game over it's older version.

To your overall question: No, there isn't a version of Galaxy for Linux. As of yet. There isn't one directly planned, as word last was.

Currently, it goes that you install the new version over the old one.

It is rather annoying that there is no delta.

For now, it's only manual on GOG.

Sadly enough, the Linux support for GOG games isn't where it should be. There are some unofficial workarounds, but I don't know how well they work.

So you like clients, enjoy third party access to your computer for updates and saves. Steam sounds like a perfect fit.

Valve forked WINE and named it Proton, now thousands of Windows games are running on Linux in their Steam version.

Since Proton is still FOSS, GOG should be able to use it too.

It should be a priority as people is moving to GNU/Linux (primary Ubuntu) since Windows became a botnet.

Well if you say so. I never really paid attention to them.
I usually check up on my games manually if:
- I want to revisit them after a longer period of time
- I want to burn the installer on disc

No need to download every single one of them while i'm not even playing ;)

It has nothing to do with fortune. Not to support Linux was and still is GOG's conscious decision. :)

Those dots are assigned manually and in case of Linux updates GOG staff is especially error-prone.
GOG has troubles supporting even native Linux builds (quite often Linux updates are dropped entirely or severely delayed compared to Windows™ and Mac™). Proton™-wrapped games are insurmountable task.

Given the market share it was probaly a rational descision, especially for a relatively small platform like GoG.
However I too think that it will become more important in the future as microsoft is pushing the windows store and turns it's operation system into a 'service'.
