tinyE: I never said I was any better, I'm just pointing out that if he is going to fire back in kind in makes him just as bad.
True, the "best" way would be not to fire back, but I've very rarely seen anybody been able to hold to that kind of standard, and it's rather unrealistic to expect as much. It's like punching somebody across the face, then saying he's a terrible person if he punches you back. I don't think any jury's about to buy that one.

DeMignon: No problem. See, many forum members are passionate GOG customers and like me, they love the DRM-free approach and hate everything that hurts GOG's concept, especially software piracy. Hence all the heated discussion in this thread. Give them and GOG a second chance and you'll feel quite well in here ;-)
I hope my question stays in the forms so that anybody else who has my problem can find a swift answer, without tomato's being thrown at them of course hahaha.

tinyE: I think I am going to quit it.

Being an asshole just isn't fun anymore.

Sorry hewiman.

Fairfox: S'against GOGie's terms o' service/policies put in place, obvs. I kno you are ignorant in these matters ('n' I mean "ignorant" not as an insult but in teh truest sense of teh word - a lack of facts) but it looks bad to come to teh official website with gamies you didn't pay for asking for account help, non?

hewiman2142: ah so im left in a bit of a predicament as i cannot contact my budy, I have no idea weather or not these games are still installed on his computer, i was only told he was board of them and that i could have the games he had purchased, i had made the assumption that that was ok and was met only by self righteous individuals thinking i had done something illegal.
Well, it's up to you. The most I or any of us can do is say "please don't do that", but you personally have to decide whether you want to go for it or not. As I said, it's not as if you're going to get the police knocking at your door just because you downloaded some games your friend gave you.
If you do download/play them, just be aware that you're not going to be able to use Galaxy with anything that isn't attached to your GOG account.

I just apologized to the guy and said I'm done acting this way.

Would you please stop making these critics without reading all of my posts before hand.

Thank you.

I understand now, Im going to have to purchase these games so that the licence is mine alone, im also going to read up on how gifting works so i can give the games i purchased to my friends if i want too while keeping within proper gog policy.

hewiman2142: You think that i dont care about right and wrong?
Not about everything, of course. Just piracy/misuse of software licences. I meant no offense.
Hewiman2142 can't be real, he must be a troll XD
This is like asking for cracks on Steam lol.

phaolo: Hewiman2142 can't be real, he must be a troll XD
It's not that, he just wasn't aware how DRM-free games work.
He said that his friend explained nothing to him, and as I pointed out, he probably looked at it akin to getting a stack of CDs. It's a perfectly understandable mistake. Not everyone is as knowledgeable or passionate about the subject as this particular community is.

Prolence: From the FAQ:
9. Can I enjoy my purchases both on my laptop and desktop computer at home?
Yes. We do not limit the number of installations or reinstallations, as long as you install your purchased games on computers in your household. So yeah, if you've got a render-farm in the basement, you might actually break the world record for the number of legal Witcher installations in one household. However, if you think about installing your game on a friend's machine or sharing it with others then please don't do it, okay?

Just to throw this out there, unless your friend gifted the copy to you with GOG's own gifting system, this applies.

This is the time I'm having and willing to put here, so take it as you may.

hewiman2142: At least you provided me with an actual answer .
Sorry if I came out a bit on a negative side, I was in a hurry and tried to throw a quick explanation of what's the main idea behind the situation is from the GOG support page. I only read the earlier answers and found the overall rather negative tone in most of the posts, so I thought this was 'one of those' threads and didn't want to spend too much time getting caught up in the middle of a flamewar. Glad that you found the answer you were looking for.
