I think all the yelling and name calling doesn't help at all.

hewiman2142, unfortunately there is a misunderstanding on your side. Your friend wasn't allowed to give you the games in the first place, because they are bound to him personally. When you're using them, then you're doing it without any license, hence it's like playing pirated games. Basically that's why everybody is so upset in here.

All this can be found in GOG's User Agreements, especially here:
2.1 We give you and other GOG users the personal right (known legally as a 'licence') to use GOG services and to download and/or stream (depending on the content) and use GOG content. This licence is for your personal use. We can stop or suspend this licence in some situations, which are explained later on.
and here:
3.3 Your GOG account and GOG content are personal to you and cannot be shared with, sold, gifted or transferred to anyone else. Your access to and use of them is subject to GOG’s rules which are set out here, as updated or amended when necessary.
I hope that clarifies the situation.
DRM-free does not mean what you think it does. Perhaps both you and your friend should read GOG's policies.

real.geizterfahr: Look... You don't buy "games" in digital stores. You "buy" two other things instead:
1. A personal, non-transferable license to play the game you "bought"
2. Access to the service of the store where you bought the license (service = download the game, get patches, etc.)

Your friend bought the games (=licenses) and was NOT allowed to share the installers. DRM free doesn't mean that you can give away copies of your installers. DRM free just means, that the guys who run the store (and the publishers and developers of the game) TRUST you, not to give away the installers and thus don't implement any technical means to prevent you from sharing them.
But if you were to give the original installer without making a copy then what would that constitue? how am i supposed to know? all my buddy told me was that he had a few games he bought off of gog that he was board of playing and had no time to play since he was moving, i had made the assumption that that sort of thing was ok, theres no telling weather or not he gave me copys of the games he purchased or simply moved the content onto the usb, if no copys were made and the original installers were given to me then that means there is only one licence correct?

I apologize for all the hatred you've been getting without any explanation...this community has a tendency to forget that not everyone exactly understands what "DRM-free" means or how it works.
I get what you're saying here. You and him no doubt look at it as him giving you a stack of old CDs, yes?
You're technically correct, as long as the game's only installed on one computer at a time, it works (the staff has said as much before), but it's still considered bad form. Somewhat in the sense of "Please don't share games, but if you HAVE to share games, at least make sure it's only installed on one computer at a time."
The opinions of whether this sort of behavior is "bad" or "neutral" will obviously vary from person to person. You can see quite clearly what this particular community thinks of it on the whole.

The original installers remain on your friend's account. Only he has access to the original installers.
What you have is COPIES of the installer.

Um...you DID immediately say he "has two brain cells fighting for air" and that you'd "throw him into the scammer thread", then proceeded to call it "bullshit", and this is before he received any coherent explanation of any sort, so how did you expect him to respond?

I never said I was any better, I'm just pointing out that if he is going to fire back in kind in makes him just as bad.

I'm an immature bag of shit, I've never denied that. Does that make it okay, NO, but it doesn't give others' free pass to act the same way without due criticism.

ah so im left in a bit of a predicament as i cannot contact my budy, I have no idea weather or not these games are still installed on his computer, i was only told he was board of them and that i could have the games he had purchased, i had made the assumption that that was ok and was met only by self righteous individuals thinking i had done something illegal.

No problem. See, many forum members are passionate GOG customers and like me, they love the DRM-free approach and hate everything that hurts GOG's concept, especially software piracy. Hence all the heated discussion in this thread. Give them and GOG a second chance and you'll feel quite well in here ;-)
