GOG is very safe. Just be aware that some US banks (can't say which - I'm not from around there) charge a fee for foreign credit card transactions, and GOG is in Europe. I've seen several people complain about this, thinking that GOG charged them extra when it was, in fact, the bank.

Yes, it's still true. Visa and Mastercard introduced a feature that lets a vendor store a token that can be used for future transactions. That feature is specifically to allow vendors to avoid storing credit card details without requiring customers to re-enter their numbers. It's very safe - even if somehow stolen, the token is useless to anyone other than GOG.

Yes.
Rixasha: It now allows to remember it and I'm not entirely sure how that works without storing it. But perhaps it's something clever. If you've opt to save the card, GOG's payment processor will ask your bank for a token when doing the transaction, and the bank will give said token back. On the next purchase that you use the stored card, the processor will send the token to the bank instead of the card details. The bank will check if the token, payment processor and payment requester all match, and if they do, the bank will authorize the payment.
If I somehow manage to grab the list of tokens from GOG, I will not be able to use them, since the payment requester won't be GOG.
I may have oversimplified the above a bit, but the save option is basically storing an identifier unique to GOG.
