Barry_Woodward: That's a good point. The majority of GOG customers aren't going to be interested in every release, so an increased output might mean seeing more of the types of games that do interest them.
Maybe more games (per week) will be helpful, but I don't want to see something similar to Steam. Quality > quantity. :)
8 releases - one per genre as listed by gog for balance. The more games the better. It should really be the customer to decide what he want's to buy and not the store.

At least twice than this week would be nice ;)

It is. You can always choose to not buy if you are not interested in a release. Its not like its a race and you'll not loose your account if you don't buy everything released.
Did you just say "GOG bear"?! :O

To me, 2 is enough.
One classic and one modern.

But hey, the more the merrier.
What's the GOG bear everyone keeps going on about?

From my side any amount is great, just keep releasing them :o)

Prah: How many games could a GOG bear if a GOG could bear games?

A GOG would bear as many games a GOG could bear if a GOG could bear games :D
As soon as I saw this thread, I was gonna make that exact joke. Botheration upon you for beating me to it.

GOGbear is the little guy that pops up when the site gets too many people on at once or when there's a dead link.

I think he's the unofficial mascot of some sort, but I'm not entirely sure.

But I find the inverse true as well. It should be the store that decides what it wants to stock and not the customer. :)

Considering GOG makes profit from selling games, and profit lets them run their business, hire more programmers, web designers, game hackers, etc. I would say that if you subtract the number of games that are in the GOG catalogue right now from the number of games that are in the Steam catalogue, then factor in a couple thousand extra on top of that you'll arrive at a reasonable estimate for how many games GOG doesn't have yet that they theoretically could (ignoring various details as to why certain games aren't here for simplicity).

Under the premise that DRM-free gaming is good, and that GOG.com is the best place to get DRM-free games and the place where people prefer to get them, then take that number of games above that aren't here and release them here all next week in one fell swoop. That would be the perfect number of games for GOG to release per week, only they'd only have to do it once because then all games would be here. They money they make from it will pay for $whatever that is needed to make it happen. The number of games that would show up would be less than the total above due to $reasons, but well... these are random estimates based on random ideas and hypothetical speculation of something that's not likely going to happen now or anytime soon so my theory is as good as any. :)

I have a second theory though in case that one falls down. My second theory is: potato.
How many releases could GOG withstand before this dude shows up and eats everyone?

A day per game is probably more than plenty, but if GOG were to compromise, I'd also accept 3 a week.
I think one a week is great gives the game plenty of front page attention and keeps the store from flooding which is a real problem.

Flooding? What, were you one of the people who liked the snail's pace of content drip fed on the Wii and DSi?

Well you could always have done the Monkey Island variant ;)
"A GOG would bear no amount of games since a GOG can't bear games"

PaterAlf: For me 6-7 releases per week are perfect.
I'm surprised no one's made a dirty joke out of that yet.

Regardless, I can't help but feel like GOG is oversaturating their catalog every time I see another release. It's just my gut instinct to think "Another release already?" It kinda makes it feel less special/selective to see so many, so often.

But then again, there's really no crapware or partially-made games to wade through in GOG's catalog, which is a very good thing. Other DD sites seem to take whatever is offered to them, regardless of quality or how close a game is to being complete (which kinda sucks when you see an alpha sitting around that you're really interested in, but then the devs don't do anything with it).

Bottom line though is that if you see new games that you don't want, don't buy them. And if you see games you do want, but your backlog is just ridiculously huge, wishlist it & wait for a good sale.
