agogfan: Windows XP still powers my primary gaming PC, which is still not connected to the internet.

It's running perfectly fine so I haven't needed to restore a fresh install image for a long time, but that's probably because I've kept it off the internet so it hasn't ended up with a ton of rubbish on it. And I thus also don't have to run antivirus software, which I suspect would cause a lot of performance issues for XP machines which are probably using older hardware.
^^^ Same for me bro. Still using my XP Gaming computer...and offline as well, and no AV, just like yours. The only problem I've ever had, was the power supply a couple years ago, which I promptly diagnosed, and replaced with a more powerful, and higher quality one. Other than that, still happily playing games on it. I suppose sometime in the near future, I'm going to have to break down, and get a newer rig as well to play some of the more modern games (and aren't available on console, or don't play well on them) that have come out, that I'd like to play, but can't on my older rig. Not a huge priority for me atm though....
I've got an XP virtual machine for whenever I need it in my copy of Win 7 Ultimate.
i run still wxp professional (and only wxp). its really enough for running dosbox and web i.e. for my purposes.

in some time ill buy new computer for skyrim and gta 5 but it's not topical as im satisfied with oldies yet
Please do the rest of the world a favour and upgrade that crap to something secure.
I have XP [dual boot with Win7] I use it to play older games, and for file manipulation, Win7 is crap regards that, the Win7 exploerer is more like a media centre. seems all Microsoft care about is videos / pictures / music.

All the best

why you should be interested in security of others..?

anyway, the less spread of wxp the less concern of hackers for
I still run Windows XP Pro (without internet connection) for games.
I've been using Linux since 2004 though.

CARRiON.FLOWERS: OP says no Linux.

Linux users immediately flood thread.

timppu: He seemed to have a misconception that he'd have to replace XP with Linux. That is not the case, they work beautifully side by side. The only reason why I wouldn't suggest that is if he has so little hard drive space that he can't run both comfortably side by side, but then the extra OS on the side doesn't take that much more room.

XP and Linux side by side to me means:

XP for playing (older) single-player Windows games. Disconnected from internet.
Linux for doing any productive work and going online.

I haven't really dwelled into running Windows games with Wine or Linux gaming in general, I haven't had the need yet, but it would be fun to experiment.
As long as the games you want to play are 32-bit and don't require anything higher than DirectX 9.0, you should be good to go with Wine. Not sure how the 64-bit version of Wine is looking these days...
I use a WinXP non-internet-connected ancient laptop (500MHz I think) for playing old games. Baldur's Gate, Quest for Glories and Myth: The Fallen Lords are currently on it.

Because insecure systems are what is used to create botnets.

seleapi: My gaming computer still runs with windows XP.
Asking just for curiosity and because, unfortunately, all the new games do not support XP anymore.
Anyway at the moment i do not want to reinstall the OS and no want to throw other money at Microsoft.

Please don't tell me to install linux because most of my games don't works with it.

Habanerose: Why not install both? (Dual Boot)
It's an extra pain in the ass and most Xp era games run fine in Wine anyway.
